I do a similar thing, with folks on Deviantart and where I hang out otherwise, with my Sanger character. I've got about... 30 of him that I did myself (ranging from my little ponies to the 5th rider of the apocalypse) and then a collection of art from conventions and such.
I might get to do Speedy, we'll see once my elf project is less intense -

DA is nice and all but it seems to be rather slow. I was thinking of starting a webring that collects all the web pages of artists and collectors. I had a links page on my site but I took it down recently because I wasn't happy with the format.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem with that is that most artists can't afford their own web site. Deviantart is excellent for college students and teens who don't have a job yet. Myself, I don't put any of my major art pieces on my main website *because* Deviantart's there. It hits the people I want to see em. There's no feedback on private websites. And the feedback process on most other sites sucks, if it exists at all.
Plus, if you're popular, your bandwidth is huge. That causes downtime. And while I know DA is slow - it's *usually* up. Though I don't envy anyone with dialup in this day and age... -
Why yes, yes it is Aero! How nice of you to bump this for me so I could see it!
http://droppin-the-fork.com/elves/pr...olt-story1.htm
That's the first chunk of the story I've written, every elf that I make for this Holt will get a little time in the sun here, which means a LOT of story. Every elf is important to their holt, which is why I take the time with each one to give a background and other info just in case their time in the sun is brief.
This is linked to the main protector page too, by the way, and each new group's section will be linked there for ease of reference but all pages will be next/back accessable. And yeah - that's 22 .doc pages long (but it's 12 point type I think lol).
Any commentary? That's my style. I will probably be adding reference pictures for the other background characters like myself (Snowdrift) and Talon since we'll be there a while.
And an update: group 3 is all sketched, and some are inked. A few are named, they're headed to full inks today since I work and the Chargers game is on.
GO BOLTS. -
Fantastic picture! I hope you're a pro making some kind of cash off that skill. And very neat character concept/name/image combo.
-
What a great use of the star-on-star emblem!! Nice concept.

I didn't see the point. I was expecting to see someones character interacting or something. Views of the city and statues set to music, just isn't my thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Obviously you did miss the point.
WE are not the heroes of Paragon. The fallen ones who have been immortalized in those big statues that we know and love, ARE. Point.
Not "heroes of the GAME". But Heroes of the CITY - Paragon.
Perhaps you ought to take your first contact up on it if they offer you the "you should learn more about the heroes of our City" mission and go click on a plaque or two. You might learn something about the history that's been given to us in the background all this time. -
Wow, best use of Britany ever. That was beautiful.
-
My more favorite was Galaxy High, actually. I only faintly remember Hero High.
Plus there's my own Carramba High.... Still taking applications for instructors and wacky classes to teach. -
The colors on that are fantastic!! Excellent light source-work!!
... I still need to upload those blanks for people! -
I love the design on Acoustic, that was really clever, and the COLORS on Hex! woo! Very pretty!
I can't wait to see Sanger -
Almost every time you go into the caves, outside changes like that. It's pretty cool.
There's a similar effect that happens to the colors in Dark Astoria, at just the right angle to the war walls - sometimes they flash 'un-reverse' but the rest of the colors are the same for DA, so it's this really pretty 'starfield' looking thing. -
Lets see here...
I printed out my 'squishy form' (that is, 4 forms per page) so I can take them to work and figure out stats and powers... wow.
On the way next:
Group 3 - Cierra, Bob, Trickshooter, Riverdancer, Gymli, Doc Ryan, Volksmech, Nylonus
Group 4 - Grumble, Mr Graham, Ojin, Badge, Snowkitty, Nightblade Guardian, Tatsu, Dirtwolf
Group 5 - Ber, Demilion, Blazing Blue, Woodnimph, Abeedo, Proton Chicken, Ruen Shock, Back Alley Scrapper (first form - sent 22 december)
Group 6 - Deedee, MarDun, Tsukiyomi, Rastafariman, Sillver, Boudicia Dark, Dano, Al (sent out a ? about who this is but I can't recall if I got an answer?)
Group 7 - Audrey, Argelia, Chris, Tim, Yumii, BAS (2nd form, sent 8 jan - so, if you want 2 you got em, if you want 1 tell me which one )
I have a LOT of work ahead of me! And it's already a HUGE population, but I will continue to take folks as long as there's interest. I hope that once I start posting the story bits there will continue to be commentary and stuff. -
Why worry? Every one of the elves I've done so far on that page *are from real people* and not their toons. I base the powers and skills specifically on the likes and dislikes of the person filling out the form. I always try to bring out the *best* parts, if not the most *interesting* bits, for story purposes. People generally don't suck in my world ... wait, that was NOT what that sounded like! I mean, it's an idealized version of people - it has a realism to it (like, you're gonna have to learn to hunt and create items for yourself) but things are made easier or more fun by the presence of magic powers and other people around to help.
If ya fill something out as a toon - PLEASE just remind me who you are!
Stick stuff in the 'other' area if you have stuff to add. -
lol That's okay, Yumii will do just fine. As long as I have an email from you that works, I can make sure any details you want are there.
And yay I really am glad people like these. Some will be waiting a while for their elf - they're coming in groups of 8 or so, and I've got about ... 4 groups at least to do now.
And, there IS a story. When its first chapter - with the elves listed on that first post primarily - is done, I'll be putting that up on my website and you can check it out.
http://www.droppin-the-fork.com/elve.../protector.htm is the page that the characters and their info sheets are located, for the 'finished product' information - as well as the keen map of the whole Holt. -
It *is* for your personal info, actually - the people I'm doing are not their characters *necesarily*. However - if you WANT a character, one that's near and dear to YOU, please indicate. I have a whole place full of real people *and their artistic muses and creations* elsewhere on the world, so I figure a couple of these toons will make it too.
TA - I probably did get one but you might not have given me your global/toon name to recognize. I did go back through and tried to figure out who was what, because there are a couple that I'm coming in on next that I genuinely don't know who they are.
So yeah: the survey is primarily for YOU the person, but if you want a toon that's special and 'real' to you, fill one out that way and I'll do that too. Just make sure I know who you are FIRST
I am very glad folks like these - and yeah that's what the whole thing's about, me making art and stories for the people who have made my life here in the COH world fun. -
Very excellent work, the finishes on these will be super!!
-
Here are the second set elves!
Lohr as Liana
Santa Laws as Jolly
Boarding Party as Pirate? (yes, Pirate! and Pirate? are two different people, now Kythorn's known on paper as Piratte. And that's goin in the story too.
Xander. as Allegory
Lady of Bastet as Tabby
Storm Tiger as Tigercat
Shadowstone as Silverwill
Enjoy!
Remember, if you want to be an elf in the Otherforest, click the linky below. But please PLEASE remember to tell me your forum or global game name so I know who you are. -

It seems like a steep price, but they start playing with themselves right out of the box and they take care of all their own maintenance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed that for you -
[ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't even go that far... you can identify with said music - the question is; are you *trying* to make people say "poor you"?
[/ QUOTE ]
On many levels, yes, yes they are. Watch their forum type behaviors and blogs. It's true.
[ QUOTE ]
The music can be quite cathartic in a rough spot so long as you let it bleed the negative off of you, rather than building it up. <x_x>
[/ QUOTE ]
That's definitely true. Maybe it was easier when I was that age (GET OFF MY LAWN) because all we had was metal, middle of the road, electronic and 'r&b'. Judas Priest made me realize that I didn't have to hate MYSELF.
I could hate *Everything Else*. -
[ QUOTE ]
You -just- noticed?
o.O
Hell of a gatekeeper you are.

Wasn't I cheering you on that night? I think I was at work, I stayed like 20 minutes late for you to do it too.
