It's folks like you who really made the game, not the more well-known personalities. Salut.

They saw me and knew I'd suck their souls away for some perceived slight, so yeah. Blame me. Well, blame NCSoft too, we're in a conspiracy.

Quote:Good articles, I remember themI used to go by the forum name Gilgamesh. I was one of the original CoH devs at NCsoft (2004 - 2006). I'm the guy that wrote most of the old Paragon Times articles (as Jackson Turner). It's a sad day but I wanted to thank all the fans from the early beta days to now for loving this game. All the CoH teams, past and present, worked very hard to bring you the best MMO possible. We loved working on CoH as much as you loved playing it. Personally, I wanted to thank all of you for being true superheroes! I was honored to be among all of you. Take care. Be well. --Will Hiles

I salute you sir for pointing out the bourgeois exploitation of the proletariat in the form of a never-ending crack addiction to ever-greater levels of virtual power. Down with marketing!

I love Stalkers. And I love (ranged) Masterminds. Brutes are.. eh.

Let us know when you dESpaiR finish all six arcs-- the ending is pretty nO fUTuRe awesome.
Mind = blown. Blown like a.. well, like a simile I can't say on these boards.
I am literally in awe of the arcs presented here in Dark Astoria. I particularly love the "contact story" missions. The writing was phenomenal and awesome and incredible.
I.. I can't even complain a little. Wait, I tell a lie, I can complain because I can't complain, which makes me Purposeless_Citizen. I guess I'll go wander aimlessly and repeatedly bump into walls since I can't fulfill my main function any more? -

I'm on the Duncan arc at present. Sooo. Muuuch. Fuuun. Though since my scrapper doesn't have any incarnate stuff, she's surviving five-man spawns through sheer IO'dness and inspiration spamming (at least one every spawn). Makes the me from three years ago happy that said me could build a character that never goes obsolete! -
Quote:Gracias, but I may take that as license to ask a bunch of engineering questions instead.Yeah, that's what Arbiter Hawk keeps telling everyone.
Welcome back A_C. You have a lot of catching up to do. My PM box is always open if you have questions.
Incidentally, random note, but did I mention how much I'm in love with Dark Astoria? -
Quote:This reminds me of an STF I ran ages back. This being when the TF first came out, we all had a lot of issues with it in terms of difficulty. It was a hard TF. So, I decided to level an emp defender so we could do it properly.I think my most memorable fight in CoH was the night we ran a 4-man Statesman TF with a spines/invul scrapper as main tank. All four of us were very good players and knew what we were getting into, but the final fight with the towers involved several team wipes and the thought that we were simply in over our heads after all. Then we rallied and finally beat Recluse down. ^_^
Now, this emp was quite an incredible character. I buffed her out, and she was a god at making other people gods. Perma fort on five people without a single outside buff, plus perma AB, the works.
One day we decided to bring a fire tank to the STF with me as the only real defensive buffer. I got the singular job of keeping her alive with no +hp, not even capped resistance, against a mean Lord Recluse. I was in like freakin' ZEN mode on that TF, trying to keep that tank alive at all costs. But I bloody well did it! It took some serious effort on both our parts, but we did it. I was timing heals so they'd hit between Lord Recluse's one-second-activation attacks.. barely. Totally awesome. -
I had an awesome fight yesterday, too.
SPOILERS FOR DARK ASTORIA - KINDA
Remember that fight where you're given a choice to rescue either both Kadabra Kill and Sigil or one or neither? And you have a minute and a half to kill like five or six hard-as-hell bosses if you choose to rescue them both?
I did it, man. I did it. With less than a second to spare, thanks to a lucky crit from One Thousand Cuts that was built up with two Feints and a Gaussian proc. -

They all sorta became a blur after I13, tbh. And I only remember I13 because they destroyed PvP.
That's not to say I don't know anything that has happened since I13, but the issues themselves became less distinct after that, at least for me.
Paragonwiki says I left right before I16, so. -
I just finished the mission with the Tsoo where you're looking for information. Yes, I did the intro mission, and bricks were excreted over the "dream sequence". Straight out of freaking Lovecraft, that stuff!

Oh.. oh my sweet zombie jesus. Dark Astoria, man. Dark Astoria.
Any hint of regret that I may have in the future over my decision to return has just vanished into a subatomic smudge. -

Excuse me while I kidnap you and stuff you in my closet for possible future needs.

Awesome! I've two years left. Finally finished with "the basics", and from what I understand, it's smooth sailing from here on out. All the weed-out courses are finished, and now us poor engineering students get to rebuild our GPA in time for grad school.
Still not sure if I want to do that, btw, but it's an option. -

What are SSA's, DFB's, I/O's (invention origins?), and where can I find the new Praetorian content GG mentioned?
Hey, what happened to all the red names, anyway? I don't recognize any of 'em.
Thanks for the welcome back(s)! I feel so old and frail and get the heck off my lawn! -
So, after three years, I've decided to resub full time. What are some things I should check out? Despite popping in occasionally, I never really kept up with things... Any help would be very appreciated.

Quote:Awww, she's very cute This thread continues to make me smile all these years after it was first posted. Yes, even the Angry Citizen can smile about an awesome little girl having fun.Well, CoX has brought a lot of Christmas joy to one little girl today!
SuperOz, a wonderful person from downunder, has been working hard on a custom figure for Sister Flame. Instead of delivering any old time, Mr. Oz made sure it would arrive this week and I went to pick it this package.
When I brought it home, Sister Flame found a lovely wrapped package (presents are big with ten year olds), a nice Christmas card and a wonderful letter that Sister Flame had a hoot reading! To know that someone 2000 miles away sent her something and that they were having Christmas without snow just blew her away.
However, what really made her day was the figure inside. She was so excited and proud to have it! It is sitting on her bookcase with her other treasures and she refused to take it out so I can get a better shot of it (Best I can do is a grainy iPod shot for now). She is all ready making plans to bring it to school for a Show and Tell in the new year.
So SuperOz, what can I say? You've made Sister Flame's day and she gives you a hearty thumbs up!
