  1. My ice/cold beat Ownage's dark/cold 6-0.
  2. Had quite a few good matches today. If anything, the ladderis getting more action on test. Hopefully we wont see too many trying to avoid hard fights like that MM.
  3. Terpman.......you're gonna need to make some kind of rule regarding people that avoid matches simply because they may think that they can't win, and only picking those fights where they feel they have the upper hand.

Today I went to test, advertised on AC that I was in the ladder and looking for other ladder peeps for some matches. I get this Miasmic Dragon ninja/poison MM that gladly says he'll fight my ice/cold, and refuses to fight my rad/psi.

I went and fought his MM with my ice/cold, even though I know its gonna be pretty rough for my single target corr to kill a MM in bodyguard. I have stealth plus stealth IO, and he has no perception. I could play the cheesy game of hide and stay hidden for a draw, but I don't rol lthat way and gave it a shot to the very last second of the fight.

he won 3-0. Fair fight, and no complaint from my part about the loss. What irks me is that he tells me that there is no way that he'll fight my other toon (rad/psi).

Now....if everyone is to do this, then I might as well withdraw from the ladder. I like winning, but I wont sink to that cheesy level of ducking fights in order to maintain a perfect record.

btw...I went to the site and tried to report the loss, but couldn't find where to do so. make sure you credit him with his win.
  4. I had my first couple ladder fights last nite vs Ownage. Got a win and a draw respectively with my 2 toons in the ladder.

Do we report draws? if so, either one can do it right?
  5. I signed up already with my 2 regular characters. Is this ok, or do I have to just pick one?

I duel on test with my rad/psi and my ice/cold regularly.

I find this very ironic considering that on the one and only official match that FoL had vs Velocity we brought over a jump team, which Velocity defeated using a storm team.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't with Velocity then, could care less.

Another thing..........boasting about scores of practice/scrimage rounds in which you are facing non optimal lineups is a bit tasteless. Don't become Cruel part II.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not really boasting so much as saying that FoL isn't unbeatable like Incursion is implying.

    [ QUOTE ]
If you really think you're better than us, or NDX, or whomever, why is it that you guys avoid scheduling official matches like the plague?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not my decision to make, but it may have something to do with the fact that they picked up a bunch of new people and would like to get practices with them in.

Might also have something to do with the only matches I've been around to see be requested were done out of dislike for the group. NDX called us out for prestacking venge (once in a practice match just to see what was up), so they wanted an official. Now you're calling us out for using venge at all, and saying that's the only way we win, so you want an official.

Word of advice, people might be a tad bit more inclined to play with you if you didn't call them out when a win or loss on either side would only add to the drama.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whether you were with Velocity or not then, or whether you care or not is irrelevant. The fact still remains that Velocity used a storm team in a official match against our jump team. If storm team wasn't cheap or cheesy then, it shouldnt be now.

We're not requesting matches out of dislike for your group, or any other group for that matter. We are requesting matches because we are a PvP SG, and..........surprise, we like to PvP.

Contrary to what you think, I've always liked Velocity, and have very good relations with Moe, Black Scythe, Sky Wolf, Xhiggy, and the rest of the original SG founders. In fact, I almost went to Velocity when the SG was founded. I was glad to see another PvP group in Liberty, because its boring to be the only dominant group in a server.

We are not looking for drama, just matches.

GL HF with this thread. It's a lost [censored] cause. Anti-Venge groups are the ones that [censored] suck at it, just like anti-storm groups are the ones that can win without it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

so if you're anti-vengeance it's 'cuz you suck...

    and if you're anti-storm it's 'cuz you're sweet?

'scuse me while i laugh in your face.

gg context and reading comprehension. The only reason you'd be an advocate of something as corny as a Storm team is because it's your best bet of winning, just like the only reason you'd be an advocate of using Venge while it's still bugged is because your group is good at stacking it. The opposite is also true. GJ Being a tool.

  10. Hello everyone!

I'm a member of the tourneys, and events subcommittes of the PvPec.

PVP isn't optional for COX's long term survival. The PVE is stale and most people in the anti pvp crowd turn to badge hunting just to keep themselves entertained. Most of the people I talked to had servers that went through a shock when the zone bugs effectively shut down pvp on most servers from november to february. Most people stopped logging in and serveral people quit, who are only now coming back. Since COX is a game of many alts, these people turned out to be a lot of toons people had known in other venues.

On one of the first four pages on this thread someone brought up that SWG had been pvp centric as it's end game and had then switched to pve for a bit. They incorrectly assumed that's what hurt that game. By contrast, in 2003, SWG had the biggest openning of any MMORPG which it lost by being eclipsed by WOW. It's numbers dropped overnight and half it's servers closed by becoming a grind game with Jedi and the CU. It numbers were harmed even worse by becoming even more PVE centric NGE. SWG had to suck up that PVP paid the bills to begin regrowing now.

While approaching 9 million paying subscribers, which is more than the Nelson rating of most tv shows, WOW has servers that are labeled PVE and Roleplaying, which have pvp zones and have pvp hot options. Eve Online, MXO, Guildwars, COX, Vanguard, and every other game have the pvp components. Warhammer, Age of Conan, Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising, Star Trek Online, Marvel, DC, Firefly Online, and World of Darkness Online, are being pre built with PVP in mind and that's every major game being released from 2007-2009.

PVP pays the bills. PVE does not.

That's not me saying that. That's the entire video game industry saying that. They are saying that now. They are saying that through 2010 and quite possibly beyond.

In fact, PVE does the opposite of pay the bills. PVE only develops a core of players that burn through 3 month of development in a weekend. Does that make them happy? Not at all, they go on to cry on whatever forum board that another 3 months of development can't be done instantly to stop their boredom.

As much as the anti pvp crowd might stalk these forums and scream endlessly in the throws of obsessive compulsive disorder that they don't like pvp in this game. This game will have to have it and balance it to survive.

If the developers of this game ever get silly enough to listen to the screams of the anti pvp crowd, this game will have its life support plug pulled much sooner. Right now, without the balance issues being fixed, this game is expected to only edge out a suvivable profit by the time Marvel and DC come out. Paradoxically, NCSoft is developing Marvel and I'll bet real money it's being required to be absolutely balanced from the beginning.

PVP creates long time rivalries. PVP creates player driven content. PVP communities are the group that stay with a game for years in the highest numbers.

You might believe in your heart pvp doesn't pay the bills. But all the industrial side market research for the past two years says that you are saying the world is flat.

Here is your proof from just one major developer, watch all 7:26 minutes: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZOTRjWGxmjI

If you get on a team that works well, get to know those people. A good player is worth two SO's in each power.

Probably the best piece of advise in this whole thread (and there are many other good things)

Finding one or 2 good reliable players that are playing AT's that complement yours well, is priceless. I've been blessed with having a small, but awesome group of friends in the game that usually teams with me. We've taken new toons together from the tutorial to lvl 12 in under 4 hours just street sweeping on the way to and from missions starting in Atlas, then Kings Row, Hollows, Perez and Steel.

    Nice people

I've been fighting vs Hidden Demise both in Bloody Bay and Siren's call for the last few weeks with my controller NY ATC, and I can atest that this guy is one hell of a good sport, and a very good player.

There are a few good stalkers this server, and he is one of the best. Emisary of Doom, Dregg, Maximus, Lord Dracula X, and Shadow Smite are some other notable good stalkers in the server, and usually very good sports too.

I've fought against that Shadow Operative MM in Siren's as well. Very slippery and always moving make him a hard kill as well.
