Quote:Wow... really? You really cannot compare the Animated Series' masterful Two-Face with Jones' over the top wanna-be Joker Two-Face.
How the movie chose to interpret the character is all wrong; this Harvey Dent is more like an exaggerated neon version of The Animated Series' take.
So, did they ever watch the Animated Series?
Also, they didn't include Arnold's Mr Freeze? Or maybe they felt it captured the essence of the Animated Series' Mr. Freeze perfectly? *rolls eyes* -
Am I the only person who can't stand the old Superman films?
Nothing against Reeve's version of the Man of Steel, just the films. -
Wow... Beeb... really... could you guys BE any more confusing?
-
Once again though, you're assuming all the "good names" are taken by people who would be eligible to release their names.
-
Last time they did it datamining revealed that very few names actually got reclaimed.
-
Also, the Restoration team are fantastic.
http://www.restoration-team.co.uk/
Although the site's no longer updated, they have a lot of details on what they did to restore episodes and where certain things were found.
Additionally, the DVDs that are produced by 2|Entertain have great documentaries.
I seriously think that the classic Who DVDs are some of the best products around. -
I doubt that's Series 7 then, Series 7 is going to be 14 episodes (13 plus Christmas). According to Moff and other sources. So I'll guess they'll be doing a 6.5 like they did with Tennant.
Considering they said this was going to be the plan (two or three series, break with specials for a year etc) I don't find this surprising. It's a good way to save money while also keeping Doctor Who fresh in people's minds.
Still, not getting a full series is always a shame.
[Edit: Ah, and yes, the Olympics too.]
As for classic Doctor Who, I've actually starting buying all the DVDs and watching them again, just got around to Pertwee's first story.
When I was younger they used to show omnibuses of Doctor Who, but I don't think they ever showed the 1st and 2nd Doctors, so it was nice finally to get to see all of Hartnell and Troughton's (that still exist) stories. I do have a new appreciation for the Second Doctor and I'm doubly sad so much of his stories no longer exist. -
Quote:The problem is, Doctor Who is old.I have only watched since the newer series (9th Doctor and on), but I have been very tempted to go and watch the older series, except I've heard they can be quite a bit, I dunno, campy?
If you're willing to look past it's old 1960's TV style then you will find some real gems in there. -
Of course, she might have got the wrong person too.

Quote:I'm wondering if "A good man" actually refers to Rory... the Doctor specifically said that he wasn't a good man, that's why he needs so many rules.I don't know, I rather like Rory, and thought, A Good Man Goes to War, had quite a few Rory scenes.
That would make River saying that she killed a good man, the best man she ever knew, take on a new twist... it might also explain her shock and surprise when she saw Rory in the prison, because maybe the last time she saw him, she killed him.
Just a thought. -

Quote:Actually, he's basing a lot of his quirks off of the Second Doctor, Troughton. If you ever watch the Second Doctor you'll notice quite a few similarities, including some of the costume, like suspenders and bow tie. The cosmic hobo, the clown, the trickster.I look at Smith and theres, well, he seems as off the wall as Tennant, childish and immature morseo, but overall, more like he acting his version of Tennant's Doctor, rather than his own Doctor.
Quote:I think the whole series wouldd have been better had Smith's Doctor been mature and "old beyond his years" given his young looks. -

Ah, my mistake.
Also, you do not need need to refute "my" rumours, I never said I believed them. I'm only saying that there's so much stuff out there it's impossible to know what is and isn't true.
Especially since not all of us have the fortune to speak directly to people involved in the show (and not even what they say can be taken as fact).
These are not "rumors" these are statements in various mediums (especialy cons, but not limited to them, facebook and twitter are often places where venting gets done) directly from people who work with him that they dislike him for those reasons (some even made directly to ME and an associate at Chicago TARDIS this year). Add to that that if you plug yourself into the writers (not to difficult if you have facebook and twitter and a bit of charisma though having done some writing definately helps), they're even more likely to slag him for those same reasons and a few extras specific to them.
Quote:Now, to expand on that, the Beeb has ordered 14 new show in the future with Smith and Moff. However, they themseves say that they do not know how many will air in 2012. Again, this is evidence that my statement on the matter are accurate, that there is some internal business that's effecting the show on a very deep level, to the point where even the people comissioning and paying for it cannot say with certianty if they'll have a full run next year.
Quote:If results do matter, then you need an objective result
Results are: Lots of viewers. Critical praise. Viewer appreciation. Money.
Results do not mean something is good, but then I never said that. Moff just needs results and he's getting them. -
Matt Smith has quickly become one of my favourite Doctors.
Most of everything just seems to be tabloids stirring everything up.
Quote:Funny, the way I hear it is that both are inept and can't schedule or budget for anything, meaning Moff had to cover them with a "split season" idea.Under Moff Who it's become difficult to tell which is grousing and which is informed speculation from people working on the show. Moff's ego is legendary and his attitude is well known. Both lead people who work with him to dislike him personaly and professionally.
I think it's best if we all are very careful about accepting rumours as fact.
At the end of the day it's the result that counts and this first half-season has been some of the best Doctor Who of all time. -
Year One is brilliant... but no Kevin Conroy?

Quote:I think Film Brain's maturing, some of his newer stuff has real venom behind it. If you haven't watched his 2012 reviews then you might want too, he seemed genuinely insulted by that film. All too many amateur reviewers will try to copy this style and it comes across as 'grr I'm really angry...grrr' all the flailing, none of the emotion. The biggest reviewer to do this, who I'm honestly surprised doesn't get called out on it more, is Film Brain, his anger just seems so...false...
Now I know it's not just the fact he's British, while we Brits tend to do more seething, biting sarcasm than outblown rage, we can do rage, however we're probably bad at doing coherent rage, we're more likely to just go into a massive long list of swear words puncuated by whatever it is that's made us that angry.
I will agree though that "fake anger" is one of the biggest problems. The thing is, AVGN, NC and Yahtzee do it so well, everyone thinks they've got to do it. -
I think it depends on the reviewer.
I've always found Spoony's stories to be fun, but I think that's because he fills them all with all these over the top characters and his general energy seems to bleed through, plus it's all done for laughs.
Linkara just... he seems to be taking his story lines seriously and really that doesn't work in any reviewer's favour as by making themselves the hero it just makes it an exercise in ego boosting.
Reviewers like Phelous, Spoony, AVGN and even the NC do all their skits and stories with the express purpose of being funny. Linkara doesn't. -
Right now I expect it costs more energy to make the stuff than we'd get out of it.

Quote:There's also the fact that the things they are doing are happening all the time just about everywhere in nature, they're just recreating it in an observable form.None of the LHC scientists really thought that - I mean, the strangelet thing was plausible but so improbable as to be almost irrelevant, but the black hole claims made by various doom-sayers were always complete nonsense (not that the LHC couldn't theoretically create a black hole, but that it would pose the slightest risk to anyone on Earth if it did).

Quote:Time Lords can be killed, if something kills them, they can't regenerate. The first and last speculations are based on River's death at the library planet, but that could be explained away as a death that kills any Time Lord even if they have a full set of regenerations left.
And as we've already pointed out, it was specifically said in the episode that what River did would have killed the Doctor.
