Does "/demoplay <filename>" not work on a Mac?

I've succeeded in recording a couple demos using "/demorecord <filename>", but when I try to play the demo back using "/demoplay <filename>" (which is how ParagonWiki says to do it), nothing happens.

Any ideas?

What you need to do is:

Go to c:\program files\ncsoft\city of heroes

Type:

cityofheroes -demoplay FILENAME

And you're good to go.

Those instructions are for the Windows version, D_R.

On a Mac, you need to click the expand triangle next to City of Heroes in the NC Launcher, and double-click Properties. In the "Extra Command Line Parameters" area, enter the second part of what Dark_Respite suggested:

-demoplay FILENAME

Then close the Properties window, and launch City of Heroes. It will only play the demo file until you remove the contents of the "Extra Command Lines Parameters".

Ah, so it doesn't work by typing it in the chat box. ParagonWiki didn't make that clear. Thanks

Wait, what? I've been messing with demos since before Samuraiko registered on the forums and this method of starting a demo file is new to me.

Yep - one way to launch a demofile playback is to modify the launch command.

I use Windows, so I just pop open a command prompt, head to the City of Heroes directory, and my usual command launch is:

cityofheroes -demoplay FILENAME -disable2d -demofps 30

My in-game default size is 1920x1080 so nothing to change there for screen size, and voila!

Ah. I've always just made a shortcut to cityofheroes.exe with -project "coh" -demoplay added to the target line, then dragged the icon for the demo I want to play onto the ico for the shortcut.

I guess the upside to this method is that I can play my demos without needing to log into the game servers. I'll be able to watch them when/if the game ends, at least.
