can't get screenshot

I used to be able to printscreen to save a screenshot to clipboard, then open the clipboard in a graphics program. Well, I can still do that, but the resulting image is always solid black, the size of my game screen. Id like to get my CoH characters saved.

Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how I might fix it? Here's some details about my system:

Thanks, XMas, the snipping tool works well. It didn't occur to me because I normally play in full-screen mode. Nowadays it's easy enough to switch between full-screen and windowed -- no restart or anything.
