Fire/Psi/? Farmer
I'm guessing they still can. They were just more popular back when domination gave a damage buff. Therefore, if you could double or triple stack domination, you'd get a huge damage buff. Now, the damage is still good, but it's not off the charts like it was before. I imagine that's why they aren't the top performers anymore.
It's still possible to farm with almost anything thanks to Incarnate stuff. I even farm on my Elec/Elec/Mu Dominator.
Fire has a lot of AoE controls and AoE damage. Psi has a lot of AoE damage and some AoE control. Combine the two, and you have a build with a lot of damage, a fair amount of control, and very high survivability.
I'd recommend going Fire/Psi/Ice. Wade into the middle of a pack of enemies, stun the group with Flashfire or Cinders, then Drain Psyche. With that fully stacked, you'll be about as tough as a WP Scrapper. Drop Sleet and Bonfire w/ the KB->KD IO on them, then rotate Psychic Shockwave, Psychic Scream, and crowd controls. In short, they'll be suffering from a mixed bag of holds, stuns, and rapid knockdowns, and any who manage to avoid the attacks will be looking at doubled or tripled recharge times from Psi's secondary effects. /Psi/Ice is easy to softcap to smash/lethal, so most attacks will miss, and the ones that do get through will be healed in seconds. You'll have hefty, layered defenses and very high damage output.
It might not outperform Plant/Fire, but it would farm just fine and would handle Incarnate content with no problem.
I'm currently working on building this. I need a few purple sets and I will be done. I farm like a mad man on it though since it currently has perma dom.

------------
PSW got nerfed. It's not the beast it used to be.
PSW did get nerfed.. however the rest of the set was improved. It used to be that you waited until 38 to get a a decent attack. Now the set was buffed and PSW was balanced.
Technically you can farm with anything. However a Fire/Psi dom can farm just fine. I have a Fire/Psi/Fire dom and he used to be Fire/Psi/Dark and they were both good. Being able to buff yourself with Soul Drain in dark was pretty darn good, but I couldnt pass up the additional AoE in Fireball and Rain of Fire.
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
Not sure if they can still do it but i remember reading somewhere that fire/psi domies used to be able to farm. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?
