Micro-subscriptions
I...
:/
I don't know. I think that hits a price (and time) point that just wouldn't be attractive. $10 for two weeks, perhaps. Gives time for marketing to finish, gives time to deal with that "God, this is a long task force - gah, lost internet! And I'm at 24.5 hours, apparently!" moment.
Plus, I think it'd be a general pain with the billing/sub systems and the support that goes with them.
Besides, how does it affect Paragon rewards?
You missed the 25 cents a pop arcades by 20 years.

Not sure what you mean by marketing. And I suppose it would be handled as, well, how is it handled when a normal subscription runs out?

Yes, but I hear they're making a comeback in online games.
How do you insert quarters into your computer?
As to the idea itself. I can only see the devs doing it if they sold it in bundles and instantly added the time to the account and activated it upon purchase.
$7.50 for two weeks sold and used in a bundle of 2.
$3.75 per week sold and used in a bundle of 4.
$.50 cents per day sold and used in a bundle of 30.

Random thought - so far people can buy monthly and multi-monthly subscriptions, and that works well enough for most of us. Others, such as freem and preem players, probably don't fire the game up very often, and thus consider a running subscription a cost-effective thing.
So, how about selling daily subscriptions? For, say, a dollar, a player has VIP access to the game for twenty-four hours. Since that amounts to twice the cost of a single monthly subscription, it might not take away from the income CoH gets from normal subscribers while still opening up an approach for intermittent players who want to play the full game once in a while.
Thoughts?
