to send a probe to Mars...
So the idea is to have this probe use a huge supersonic parachute to slow itself down as its coming into Mars' atmosphere cause it will be going something like Ungodly miles per hour. Once it has slowed down a bit, the one section will drop for a bit then kick in these jets to cause it to hover a couple of hundred feet off the ground.
Once it's hovering it is gonna lower this rover to the surface with a tether. The rover will then roam around trashing the landscape and doing science stuff while the other part flies off 400 yards or so and crash lands.
Sounds cool huh?
