Question about slots & exemplaring
You keep the slots in your powers when you exemplar down, so don't worry about that.
HOWEVER, if you exemp down far enough, the enhancements begin to lose some values, but you generally won't notice too much, since you have more slots in the power.
So you don't need to worry about when you put the slots in, no.

Wow o_o that's nice to know. I've always been under the impression that we had to have all this stuff extremely precise when exemplaring. You just saved me a whole lot of time in the future. Thank you.

Of course, you might very well lose set bonuses, and the value of global IOs, but you don't lose the value of slots ever (well, until you lose the power itself that the slots are in).
So, for figuring exemplar purposes, you don't need to worry about when a slot was taken at all. Just all the other stuff.
If I placed 2 slots into a power at level 9 and then placed 2 more slots into the same power at level 30, and exemplar back down to 9, will I have only two slots worth of enhancements or will the 4 slots remain?
I'm a little confused as to how this works, as I'm trying to respec and appropriate the right slots at the right level so that if I exemplar to a specific level, I'll be able to make full use of the enhancements in slots of the powers I have when I'm at a specific level.
Is this necessary?
Hope this isn't too confusing, but if it is the flipside of the question would be:
If I put 0 enhancements in a power at level 3 and then put 4 enhancements in the same power at level 32, would I have 4 slots worth of enhancements to work with if I exemplar down to level 3?
