Some clarification

The damage buff gained from IO's only how does that affect your overall dpa ? Or is not worth it at all to get significant damage buff?

Are you talking about the set bonuses, or just from slotting IOs into the power itself? Some clarification as to what you're asking would be nice.

Damage set bonuses are, generally, too small to be worth going much out of your way for. If you want to increase your damage with IOs, you'll probably get better mileage from procs and global recharge bonuses.

I was referring to set bonuses sorry about that. So your saying even if I achieved say I don't know for arguments sake 30% global damage buff it would mean nothing?

It would mean something - specifically, it would mean +30% damage. The problem is that +30% damage isn't very much (slightly less than one medium red inspiration), and getting that much usually requires significant sacrifices in defense, or recharge, or etc. And a similar build not specifically focusing on damage bonuses can often get 15% or so anyway, so really you're only getting +15% damage (~half of one small red inspiration) in exchange for gutting your build.

It's not that it does nothing, it just doesn't do enough to be worth giving up much else for.

This.

The tradeoffs to build for +damage aren't worth the gains. You're better off cycling higher DPA powers more often and trying to offset the endurance cost than increasing overall DPA on all of your powers in almost every case... and all of them that I can think of offhand.

I find chasing damage bonuses potentially useful once everything else is in check. Sometimes, even a small bonus can be better than an additional regular damage proc.

This is exactly how it works out for my StJ/SR. Adding an extra damage proc in HB or SB, my most used attacks, is +2.3 DPS, whereas adding +3% damage through 4 Makos instead is +3 DPS.

(For those wondering, I already use the Mako proc; the comparison is between throwing another damage proc and hence switching the remaining 3 Makos into better IOs/HOs for pure enhancement value, or using 4 Makos for the global damage bonus)
