I'm working on a Beam/Rad Corruptor; my first real entry into the class. I've played Defenders before, but I wanted to make something that was extremely effective at killing archvillians, both with debuffs and with like, shooting.

I chose BR because of the 225(+ ?)% Regen debuff and /Rad because it looked like the easiest way to permanently cripple something. (Also they're kind of thematic together. Not a primary requirement but a nice plus!) But my inexperience building non-melee characters is seriously hampering me, so I was hoping to get some advice on a build conducive to my goal.

My main build goals at this point are perma-Lingering Radiation (and Accelerate Metabolism) and sustainable-ish endurance use. I'd very much like to keep Focused Accuracy if it's possible (and I prefer Scorpion Shield to the +Res powers anyway, but it's secondary). I'd like to avoid purples and PVP IOs if possible; I'm on a flexible budget, so they're not completely ruled out or anything, but I don't really want to spend forever putting this guy together.

I'm interested in two possibilities with my open power slots : one is hold stacking (with lancer shot, choking cloud, and web cocoon or another PPP/EPP hold), and the other very heavy -rech (with the existing Lingering Rad and the rest of Mace Mastery). Obviously for the latter I'd move Aim to the 28th level power slot.

I don't need a travel power (though neither do I have a particular reason to avoid one if it can be fit in).

I'm not expert at this but I'm taking a crack at it. One question I had is why you wish to have focused accuracy along with tactics. Your to-hit levels are off the charts. Dropping FA would free up some slots.

Fast snipe requires... I thought only like 22% to-hit or so? Maybe I have the #s wrong. But with what I have so far, even with the kismet removed and FA toggled off, it shows +49% to-hit.

Oh, the problem is Mid's will automatically factor in the Gaussian's Build-Up proc with Tactics turned on. That's why you're seeing such a high to-hit.

FA gives like 6-7% and Tactics gives 15-16-something%, assuming both are slotted. (I remember now I threw in the Kismet global to get over a tiny fractional percentage gap.) Where did you think the huge bonus was coming from, anyway?

Edit : It's excellent. Thank you very much; I'm an obsessive tinkerer and I might try scrounging a few slots for my last couple of powers, but I will likely end up using this largely as-is.

With both the Kismet proc and Tactics fully slotted with Gaussians, you should get a to-hit % slightly less than 22%. I'm pretty sure you can make up the difference with boosters...

Probably. But I need a good selection of +Def powers for LotG slotting anyway, and Maneuvers and Vengeance are easy choices (the latter especially with Fallout). I suppose I could go with Assault and free up some slots, but it didn't seem necessary. Besides... it's Assault. ;p

Edit : Oh actually, maybe it's a moot point -- I'll have to see what changes roll out to Leadership in i24.

Edit 2 : I somehow read Tactics as Focused Accuracy; the nonsense above may make some sense in that light. I'm not wiping this post only because I deserve to be ashamed of it.

If you have access to enhancment boosters you can +5 and +3 only 2 of the end red Io's in EF to maximize end reduction saving a slot.

You could then move that slot to a defense power giving access to a kismet.

If you then +5 every IO in tactics that has a To-hit bonus you end up at 22.0 to-hit.

If that still to close for your comfort you can remove the build up proc and add a level 50 to-hit buff io to tactics moving welll into ED and putting you 22.3

That would allow you to either keep FA as a set mule and insurance against Tohit debebuff cascade (trademarked by me as of now ), pick lancer shot giving you a high damage mag 3 stun to chain your single target, or pick up EM pulse for an emergency button.
