building better beds?

Forgive me if this is a repeat of a question. I didn't find the topic already posted, but I may have over looked it.

After going through the biographies/histories of the different characters in my SG, I realized that there was a significant portion of us that are living in the base on a full time basis. I'm in the process of making the base look more homey (with the different functional rooms looking like the various rooms of a house) and I'm wanting to make the decorative room we have be a combination bedroom(s), bathroom and kitchen (with some squares looking like a 'back yard'). I can probably work around getting most of that to look fairly passable except for one thing.

I can't figure out how I would make decent looking beds. There are the cots and the straw sleeping pallet, but those look really ratty (and you'd probably would get flees or bedbugs in the straw). So until we get the game mechanic of "raiding Manticore's guest house", can someone give me ideas? They wouldn't have to be big or extravagant- modest single beds would work- just something clean and comfy for our homeless heroes to sleep on.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

My technique is to use two armless black couch chairs raised up one foot. Then use two long desks, face to face (color of your choice) and sink them one foot into the floor, line them up so that the back of the couch chairs is either even with the edge of the desks or hanging off one foot. Use a red wood cabinet to hide the back of the chairs, and a tech supergroup logo floorplate as a bedspread. That's the simple version

You can also elevate the whole bed and place some floor lamps underneath to create legs. It is a really small thing but adds something that most dont see elsewhere.

Thank you for the ideas. ^_^

I've scribbled down them and will begin working on them... as soon as I have the brain power to do so.

A few helpful hints on the new tools added to Base Building.

Once you have placed an object, you can hold down the following keys to move and rotate items.

Shift+L mouse button = Vertical movement.

Ctrl+L mouse button = Horizontal movement along the same plane. Still has some glitches so it can be a little frustrating at times, just make sure to have your Patience button pressed at the same time. ^.^

Alt+L mouse button = Rotation. The rotation point is not the same for all objects, some rotate around a center point, other rotate on a corner.

These are the ones I adapted to make the beds for my base:

A friend asked me to help out with his base. Now while the walls were made of pine (lagtastic) and a nightmare to get around at first (before I deleted them by the hundreds) he had made a few good entries like a fireplace, breakfast bar/open plan kitchen and one of the best items:

A four-poster bed. Desk blocks for the core of the bed, cabinets for the edges and headboard and a wall-seating unit for the pillows. The posts are made of freestanding banner details sunk into the floor to conceal the footstand and the tops clip into the cieling giving the illusion of a four-poster bed.
