Soul Extraction can't it just kill the pet and resummon it ?

I'm just wondering why I have to kill all my pets just to summon the highest tier pet via soul extraction. Is there some reason I just can't target the pet of choice and just have soul extraction kill him or re-kill him or un-animate the dead guy to get his new pet ? Just seems a bit redundant that I need to re-kill my pet to get his soul. I can summon the undead I should be able to just rip his soul out at my whim.

So lets make soul extraction kill the pet of my choice and give me the new pet please.

You know, really, every other MM set that has some sort of 'extra pet' (Gang War, Hell on Earth) allow those extra pets to be summoned without needing to kill one of your existing pets to do so. It always struck me as a bit odd that Necromancy had to use this mechanic once those other extra pet sets were out and didn't require anything similar. Instead, I think Soul Extraction should work without needing to target a dead pet.

Obviously, some tweaks would need to be done to the power, since I believe the pet it summons still has three different forms based on the pet on which it is used. And, thematically, it may make sense to require a corpse be targeted in order to use the power, but it seems like it shouldn't require the corpse of one of your own pets.

Just my 2 inf.

We know that they recently added the tech to allow a power to do something different depending on what it's targeting, and the tech for a power to be able to be used on multiple different types of target: Defeated Foe/Conscious Foe (Darkness Affinity's Soul Absorption) and Defeated Ally/Conscious Ally (Nature Affinity's Rebirth) so maybe they could make Soul Extraction function both ways.

If it's targeting a defeated pet, it behaves the same as it currently does. If it's targeting a living pet, it summons the spirit then blows up the targeted pet.

The net result is the same, lose one pet, gain another, but this would allow the MM greater control over WHEN they can activate the power.

I could also see it being more like the Warshade Dark Extraction power which targets a defeated foe, rather than your own defeated pet.

I would really like the devs to bring it up to the same level as HoE and GW and allow the player to raise multiple pets but time limited. I'd be happy with 1 pet per body or "the caster uses the spirits of the departed to open a conduit to the nether world" and call up lots of little pets.
