Base is second closest.
Next is Auction House transporter to Steel Canyon > University or Cap > University or Port Oakes > Abandoned Lab or St. Martial > Abandoned Lab.
Then there's Ouroboros > AP > RWZ or Ouroboros > Cap > University/RWZ.
Should they be more prevalent? Yeah. Don't know why Pocket D can't have one along with an AH dealer present there.
But the Devs have a long history of providing inconsistent access to amenities. I tried to get them to make the TUNNEL system a hub... but they got placed wherever the darts landed instead.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Don't forget you can always use TUNNEL to go straight to Founders and then either duck into the RWZ or head to the University.
TUNNEL to anywhere with a Mission Architect building, then use "Crafter's Cafe" in AE. Weeee!

Where is the closest invention table if you're currently in Night Ward?
Besides teleporting to your base I mean.
