Hybrid + Alpha
Testing a damage boosting alpha now. Equipping the Hybrid THEN Alpha is giving 7.5%/11% per stack.
Equipping alpha then hybrid giving..7.5%/11% again. So the order you equip the boosts makes no difference. Nor do damage alphas seem to work at all. Not sure if this was done because the doublehit isnt +damage...but it seems a bit unfair to have NO effect on the passive bit.
Testing +res. (cardiac/melee)With alpha: 8.40passive/1.20 stacks.
Without: 7% passive/1% stacks.
Clearly +res helps a lot, especially at the T4, with the +3% res.
Testing +heal. (spirtual/melee)With alpha: passive 1.72hp/stacks 11.99 (i think, the info was jumping a lot)
Without: passive 1.72/stacks 9.02
So..a tiny tiny difference with the alpha..seems very odd, considering the HUGE +heal that vigor and spir give to Rebirth.
That's a 33% difference, which is the amount Spiritual gives. The passive part is tagged "Unaffected by buffs and enhancements" in its info.
I don't think there's ever been a buffable damage buff. I suspect it actually can't be done, because damage buffs would buff themselves in some wacky feedback loop. But anyway, Assault Core is no exception. Doublehit is also unaffected by damage buffs.
Other Hybrid effects should be buffed by the relevant alpha powers, AFAIK.
Oh, the passive bit (as in when the power isnt on, not the 'passive' +res melee gives with no targets) is unbuffable!? I wish I had of known that.
I know people are saying there isnt a buffable damage but..but WHY does there even need to be? Alpha damage works on Judgements..by just boosting the damage right? If that isnt a buff, it just changes/adds damage to the effect or whatever.
Likewise, why couldn't an alpha simple change the Passive +damage in assault? Why can't it just add/alter/magical stuff to the stacks (which are a power effect, they have a set name for each) and increase them to?
Other than the obvious..'devs dont want it to happen.'
As I said, the passive says it's unbuffable right in the power info in-game.
Damage enhancement (like Musculature) is, mechanically, the same thing as a damage buff, like Assault Core, much as recharge enhancements work the same way as recharge buffs. One is global and one is power-specific, of course, but the effect they have on that specific power is the same.
So if a damage buff, like Assault Core, is buffable, it will be buffed by Musculature, but also by Fury and Fulcrum Shift and red inspirations and itself, and then its new self-buffed value will buff itself by a larger amount when it refreshes on the next tick, and etc.
Now, maybe a damage buff could be flagged to only care about enhancements and not about global buffs, much like Judgement's damage is. I don't know, standard code rant, etc. But does it matter? Assault Core is excellent and very desirable despite being not buffed by Musculature; Musculature is excellent and very desirable despite not buffing Assault Core.
I'm not saying any of them aren't worth it. It just seems a bit unbalanced the some effects in incarnate powers work in tandem and buff each other..and others don't. But it would be nice to know that yes, your alpha would work with your own hybrid, without having to test or find out second hand.
Just feel that either they ALL should work that way, or just in no way buff each other at all.
Hopeling, I think I am misreading your 3rd paragraph (So if a damage buff..) above, or my cold meds are make me dumb. Are you saying that is how things work NOW, currently, or what would happen, is assault was buffable?
I'm saying that is (according to my understanding) the reason that no damage buff - Assault Core, Build Up, Leadership-pool Assault, etc - is enhanceable. If they were, they would do very weird things.
Anyway though, Alpha powers DO interact with Hybrid powers in a mostly consistent and predictable way. Cardiac makes powers grant more damage resistance, so it makes Melee Core grant more damage resistance. Musculature makes powers do more damage, but it does not make damage buffs stronger (Incarnate or otherwise), so it does not increase Assault Core. Doublehit and the Control Core damage proc is admittedly kind of a toss-up (is it affected by Musculature like Judgement, or not affected like Interface?).
Where damage is concerned, I'm not sure that we *need* to have more of it, no exceptions. A lot of toons already do tons of damage (looking at you, Super Strength) and it won't be helpful for more of it to emerge without bringing outliers in line, which is something the devs are kind of against at this point - Cottage Rule and all that.
In case anyone did not realise..alpha slot is working on Hybrid.
At least, the +res in cardiac is. Saw it go up form 16 to 19%..not to shabby. Was wondering, do the other stats work? Such as +heal, def, damage?
