there is a lot of detail in Croatoa/Striga missions

I just did the last 2 contacts in Croatoa to unlock Katie. I had expected it to be a grind, but it wasn't. The missions have a lot of detail in them. Putting up stones, digging things up, lots of chatter.

I think I'd just played them so much in the past the detail didn't really register anymore.

And the last 2 contacts don't have defeat alls that make the early parts of Croatoa a grind. There are several escorts which take searching, but they don't require that much fighting.

I also did the last 2 contacts in Striga recently to unlock Hess. These also lacked the defeat alls that plague the first contacts. There was one defeat all Banished Pantheon, but I auto completed it.

All in all I don't think I will skip these in the future. I'll skip the first 2 and then do the last 2. They were pretty fun and well done.

Croatoa lost me with the massive, outdoor missions to find one or two hostages. Great story arc, but if I wanted to wander aimlessly and take down large groups of enemies, I'd street sweep. On the bright side, the devs seem to understand this now. Most post-GR content makes good use of short/medium length linear missions with varying objectives and mechanics. Shame they didn't know this from the get-go though, there's a lot of great stories with horrific missions to back them up.

Always been a fan of the Croatoa arc. It's got a nice blend of old school horror and the supernatural, and a recurring theme in CoH is that when magic and the supernatural break out, bad things happen. I'm also a fan of how they worked in the Celtic and English mythology, and kept the fact that the Red Caps are truly quite vile creatures (my Do Not Kill heroes make an exception for Red Caps).

I'm still hoping that some day we'll get Tuatha de Dannan and/or Red Cap Lore pets.
