Yes.
That is to say, most of them seem to work pretty well with the set. The pets all come with innate defenses and resists so you have your choice of which to build off of, if not both.
I've got a beast/time and it works pretty well, it's pretty rare that they get one shotted, especially if I can shoot off fortify pack with several stacks of pack mentality going, they hardly get touched.
I'm playing a Beast/Pain and am enjoying it so far. I alternate Fortify Pack with World of Pain when I need to keep them alive, or just stick to World of Pain when when survivability isn't an issue. /Pain is a little slow to mature, with the early powers being some pretty bland heals and such. I'm only level 30 so I don't have the last two powers, but Anguishing Cry and Painbringer should both help with damage. Dire Wolf definitely "needs" the +Recovery from Painbringer: +800%. Giggity.
My build plan focuses on +Recharge since the last 3 powers are all click powers that you want up as often as possible (also nice to have Fortify Pack up more often during really tough fights if needed).
Pain Domination's graphics are not amazing, but my concept works well with the default so it worked out for me. Not really sure how much you can do with them.
Overall, it's a solid combo so far and I'm not yet into the best of the powers, or slots to really make them shine. I recommend it, but any of those secondaries will work well. I'm not a fan of /FF, because of the lack of debuffs, but it will make your pets much harder to kill. /Sonic will do a good job strengthening your pets, and since they're melee focused they can make good use of Disruption Field. I haven't gotten to /Time yet, but Agent White already touched on it.

Wow really nice to hear so much about beast/pain, that's what I decided on 
. I could use help building it though, I don't really know what i'm doing with either powerset lol. I was thinking of taking the Ice ancil and theming it with the dire wolf conceptwise, but I'm short on slots it seems so I might do better without it

I hope your concept is for an animal that shapeshifts into a human (or whatever your character is out of panther form). This is straight from the COH website's description of the new panther power:

Yup, I made a full-animal panther costume, and a humanshifted form costume already. I just thought for travel etc it'd be cool to have 3 wolves, 2 lionesses, a dire wolf, a panther(me), and a male lion, liger, or dog(vanities) all running around together.

I just realized with the detoggling....Vanity pets are toggles now, were they really stupid enough to make it not allow you to have pets out in panther mode? I don't have the coyote one either, so I can't check myself.

Mine is Beast/Storm. Works really good alot of carnage and chaos.
Now that the stealth panther is finally live I want to make a beast mastery character, for now I'm thinking most likely the MM being an animal him/herself. With that concept(or even if I change that part) I'm trying to decide between the secondaries with minimal effects to pair with it.
I'm thinking either Time, Sonic, or maybe Force Field...or Pain.
I like FF, but even "invisible" bubbles are visible, and i'm thinking it'd look weird on an animal sculpt. Sonic really seems to work, but i'm not familiar with the Beast set and if it would compliment it well. I've played time and like it, and could make a concept out of it easily, but again, would it go with Beast. Pain I haven't looked at the graphics of in a long time, and I've never played before. I'd like to get around to trying the powerset, that's the only reason I tossed it in as a consideration.(I also have no familiarity with the Pain powers to make a decent build out of by myself slotting wise lol)
