NCSoft Launcher won't Launch

I was normally having a nice time in CoH when suddenly power flickered, and my PC shutdown momentarily, thus starting up again on its own. Before I could do anything, power flickered again before Windows could even start. So I ran the Windows repair system and it runned normally. However, when I tried to open the Launcher a window poped up telling me NCSoft Launcher stopped working and that needed to shut down (i.e.: it crashed right away). It has been doing it ever since.

I've already tried going into Safe Mode and rebooting it, but to no use.

If anyone could assist me, I'd appreciate it greatly (I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate).

I've already tried uninstalling the Launcher and re-installing it. It didn't work.

Power flickered in the room? External powersurge, then we'd probably need to check for possible component damage, corrupt HDD, etc.

Power flickered on the PC? Too much power draw on the system and/or overheat causing the system to shutdown. Make sure vents are clean, etc.

You might wanna do some system checks like scandisk for the HDD and run some temperature testing. Since the launcher doesnt' wanna run and you were ingame(?), then it's entirely possible the HDD needs some looking at as there's some possible (but likely repairable) data corruption.

That's all I got on an empty tummy and the sugar shakes. >.<

From an external surge, and I was in game the first time it happened. The second time happened while Windows was starting up :/ I just ran a HDD scan, but nothing seem out of normal. I would have to have someone look into my PC, since my knowledge only gets so far

Thanks though.

I'm having this problem too, but I didn't have any shutdown before. The NCSoft launcher just fails to launch. I've reinstalled it, but no good.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

NP, I actually double check a scan using this as for some reason it just makes me feel like it's doing a better job than windows alone. It'll actually show you the temperature of your drives even as well as all of the available SMART information. There's a 'scandisk' tab in the application that you can use to inspect the drive, just set it to 512k bytes (1 sector) and let it take its time scanning. You'll want to shut down anything else that's running so it doesn't go slower than necessary. Normally it takes atleast an hour for me on small drives. While it doesn't repair, it should give a confirmation of the status of the drive. Also, the SMART Info tab will give you red flags for anything you need to know so long as the drive has sensors for it.

For the rest of the computer, you can use this to give you an idea of how everything else is running temp wise. It also has a SMART tab if you really wanna be thorough with the HDD testing, but the Exotics tab is where the magic is as that'll give you CPU, GPU, and HDD temps as well as much more.

For game specific issues, go ahead and checkout this link and follow it's instructions. Note its reference to HiJackThis, you'll want to follow that link as well and post here with the results of everything. You may wanna open up notepad and past each result so that you can simply post things all at one time.
