Dial-up and connecting
Unless someone corrects me, changes in the game over the years have pretty much removed the feasiblity to even attempt to play over dialup. Even if you did manage to connect you'd likely lag out before you made it through the tutorial with all the data it's probably sending back and forth.
I'm not sure about exactly when you posted, but this morning is when they bring the servers down for the weekly maintenance, so you wouldn't be able to connect anyways during that time. If, once the servers are back up, you still can't connect, then you can investigating other causes.
As for playability on dialup... it's actually reasonably playable, although requiring some modifications. Primarily, disabling combat attributes completely. I can't check right now the exact method, but, I believe right on your active powers (the series of icons under the health/endurance/xp window) and one of the options will stop sending you the numbers.
People I've teamed with on dialup that were having problems said that, after I suggested disabling that, their gameplay became quite playable. There might be other tweaks you can make, but, from what I've heard that's tended to be the major changes necessary (Rikti Raids and Incarnate Trials might still overwhelm your connection, but regular teaming shouldn't).

Check on server status :-

I've been attempting off and on for almost a week now. I tried at varying times just in case.
Try removing the line filter and plugging in directly. That's the simplest potential fix, and it might boost your signal enough to maintain a connection. If that doesn't work, I'd have someone check how much signal that particular jack is actually getting at the plug point. Sometimes a previous cable tech or builder will splice an existing line (with adequate signal) to run to a new outlet, with the new splice sometimes carrying much lower signal. This very commonly happens with splicing a long line from a convenient nearby line instead of running a new line directly from the main electrical trunk. If that's the case, having a new line run from the main trunk to that outlet should resolve your problem.
Hope this helps. Having connectivity problems bites, and with dialup you don't have much room for error in terms of signal loss. If you were able to download an update, it sounds like you definitely were getting enough signal at one time; now it's just a matter of troubleshooting. Good luck.
Okay. Living in a unique situation, and the only internet I have is dial-up. Thought I would give playing this a try over such a lightning connection. I managed to get all updated and patched just fine. But when I try and log in I am getting a "Unable to connect to login server." It mentions firewall in said error, but I both the launcher and game set to allow on my personal firewall. Part of the uniqueness of this situation is that said dial-up is also filtered.
My question: Could this be just not enough of a connection to login? Or is it part of the net filter Im stuck behind?
I know playing on such a slow connection wont be the most ideal. But I'm pretty bored.
