PBAOE's and character model size
It's just occurred to me to ask this ... Does character size make any difference to the effectiveness of PBAOE attacks and auras? Say you have a small radius PBAOE at 8' (mudpots on dominators for example) - would the size of the character model affect how many mobs can get into the area of effect?
I suppose this comes down to whether the radius is measured from the centre - in which case it makes sense that a very small character would take up less space and therefore be at an advantage or if it is measured from the edge of the character model (which I doubt) in which case you'd want to be as big as possible. Or does all this make no difference whatsoever - are all character models treated as being the same size when it comes to collision detection with the mobs? I imagine this'll make little difference in the end but the idea that we should really be City of Tiny Heroes in order to push the bleeding edge of performance amuses me |

Yes but surely a 7' huge character is wider than a 4' male/female character?

Actually, I think the point that is trying to be made is that a smaller character model may allow more mob models to gather around them, thus more mobs could be affected by the same radius of effect.
I don't believe that is the case, but I've never tested this. However, all PBAoE powers have a max target cap, so it's probably irrelevant.

The size of your character will have an effect on the size of the animation, but not the area of its effect. Also, you can't get any closer to a small character than you can get to a large one.
Where to now?

Ah fair enough - makes sense it being like that. Thanks for the replies all
This. The bounding box is a fixed size, regardless of the model and scales of your character.

I've seen tiny toons get stuck under pipes in Council Cave maps that my larger toons bounce right off of. I've also seen a persistent and extremely annoying bug on my Warshade, where it seems that the client and the server *disagree* on how big my bounding box is. I'll try to run between two obstacles, appear to get through, then rubber band back to my previous position.
Given the vagaries of mob AI and ragdoll and let's not even mention that the mob-stack-bug still happens once in a while on dense packs.... any effect from the collision size of your character model is going to be utterly negligible as far as target caps.
