I'm trying to build a decent human form only PB, focusing mainly on survivability, damage secondary.

If this guy was "Special Forces", it's the sort of "Special" that takes the short APC to the battle.

I feel like you have only a slight idea of what you're doing and that's being generous. Why are your best two options for AOE damage 6 slotted for defense debuff? Why are you building defense without even making your LF permanent? It makes no sense to try to layer extra mitigation when your main source of mitigation isn't even there. 2 slotted kick and one slotted Light Form makes me want to cry. You have a Shield Wall IO in here and your light form isn't even slotted for resistance. You build to... 34% s/l defense...? Either 32.5 it or 45% it. After you perma your LF and slot it enough to cap your resistance. And slot your attacks for damage.

Your ST attacks are gimpy as hell. I mule Kinetic Combats all the time, but if they're going into an attack that's part of a chain they get 6 slotted with a Nucleo and a proc on the end. Provoke isn't autohit so it needs accuracy slotting and it should really be 6 slotted for the taunt values. Not that you'll get any use out of it on this build because it's squishy and terrible.

Sorry for being so mean but this build is an atrocity. I have a human form build for my Peacebringer that has perma LF (over 160 global recharge) capped res to everything but Psi, over 2k HP, well slotted AOE's and an optimal ST chain w/ consistent -res, and 32.5% defense to all positions. And it has about the same price tag that this build has. You might want to familiarize yourself with what you're doing and the strengths and important stuff of the AT you're trying to build before you post stuff like this. Cringe.

Technically my "I don't post builds anymore" rule doesn't feel like it needs to take effect until the SB purples go live, it's more of a symbolic protest than anything else, and I feel like I need to post my human PB build now after chewing this guy out like that.

This is something like what your build should look like. Accolades and incarnates on. Pulsar can probably be subbed for Seekers 6 slotted w/ Expedients if that's more your style, I see them both as useless mule powers anyways though.

I obliviously made some...mistakes. I knew it looked good on "paper" but wasn't right, which is why I asked. I left the game shortly after i13 came out and only recently returned, so I'm relearning ALOT.

I saw your build posted and was trying for something a little less...expensive. I realize I could perma light form, but don't you still get the crash? IIRC (and I may not be), it worked that way before. It's a much more expensive build (roughly 7 vs 4 billion), but it may be the way to go anyway. (Not counting merit purchases, drops, and conversions)

The reason I was going for defense is because you easily cap resistance on a team with Cosmic Balance buffs. Any combo of 2 scrappers/blasters/brutes is another 20% damage resistance, putting my build over the cap, making LF redundant. Solo I'd be a bit squishier, but wouldn't necessarily have the mob sizes to make it matter much.

I was also trying to get some psi resist in since so much of the end content has psi damage.

I do appreciate the help, even if it was "rough", it has me looking in the right direction. I certainly can't doubt your expertise.

If this guy was "Special Forces", it's the sort of "Special" that takes the short APC to the battle.

The LF crash is a joke now, you have two click heals to manage it. Just learn to glance at your buff bar until it becomes second nature and the crash won't even be an issue. Defense is good after you take care of the essential stuff like slotting your powers properly. Relying on the inherent for build goals would be retarded because it takes away your self sufficiency and makes your survivability a crapshoot. Building psi resistance isn't something you should be worrying about. I have positional defense on my build as mitigation against some positioned Psi attacks, and a crapload of HP and click heals to aid with that mitigation. Chasing a negligible amount of psi resistance that wouldn't even make much of a difference isn't worth gimping the rest of your build over. The price difference isn't that big. Purples and PVP IO's can be picked up through enhancement converters now (check the market forum for more info) which means you can either get the formerly expensive stuff that way or take advantage of how much cheaper they are on the market. And welcome back to the game.

Here is a slightly cheaper build considering current market prices, that focuses on the fun human PB powers, recharge (perma LF, inner light, and essence boost), near soft capped ranged defense.

I just took my PB out of mothballs (so old he didn't even have any IOs). I lightly IOed him with whatever was cheap and gave him a spin and it was pretty good.

Then I saw TwoheadedBoy's post and liked it enough to do a respec. Previously I learned my lesson that spending 10+ Billion on a build I saw in the forums often turns out pretty meh so I've only partially IO'd my PB (no Purps, PVP or KntkC'bat yet).

He's a MONSTER. Even before I got my alpha slotted with Agility I was in a large room with 100+ of the new clockwork. Some jerk (the NPC States, I think) aggroed the entire room. The tanks and brutes went down and I just kept on fighting. I had about a 5 second gap in lightform and the 4th time it went down they whacked me before it recharged. I popped right back up with restore essence and fought until they were all dead. Now that the alpha is slotted I don't even have that gap anymore.

Anyway, thanks for the build. I'm enjoying it greatly.
