Would be nice but what a design nightmare...you'd be in a robot, a head-up might appear for you to attack through...then what happens when you get shot? I'd love for some sleek anime tech armor though...

Basically, through the use o' the Alternate Power Bar, you gain different abilities while in Mech Mode and a different character model that you could customize. Or you could get a HUD like they used with the new lowbie arcs that looked as though it was shot through a camera. Only more intricate, naturally.
