where will staff rank?

With the soon (tm) impending release of staff where do you see this set from 1 to 10 and where does it rank among the list of other stalker primaries?

I haven't played with staff forms enough to know much to judge on stalkers not getting them. I do know stalkers are getting the damage one built in(So I hear, at least). If anything it'll be a very nice damage set for stalkers.

I didn't play with it enough in Beta to say. It's hard to get a feel when my other points of comparison are lvl 50 incarnated toons.

It will not do the most single target damage but shouldn't be a slouch in AoE; it offers defense and is quite fun, so I rate it awesome.

My guts tells me Staff will rank middle in terms of ST damage and GOOD for pbaoe damage.

Now, don't get discouraged! One of the cone attacks is a Parry type of attack. It's a pretty wide cone with 9' reach (Guarded). You can easily use that as part of the attack chain. Unlike Parry, it does good damage on its own so you don't feel like you are losing dps by using a parry-like attack. You can simply use BU + Guarded and gain +defense to start the fight. With Ninja/Broadsword, you almost never start the fight with BU + Parry because that's such a waste of critical damage. Guarded is what Parry should have been like IMO.

Sky Splitter looks decent as a heavy hitter but it's kinda slow.

I have not tried Eye of Storm but it shall be a good pbaoe.



I do feel Stalker Staff will be just as good as other versions. Stalker's Staff excels in dps, burst damage and ST damage. Other version excels in having one more cone attack and a bit more versatile with two other Forms.
