DB/WP newbie, need help with slotting

Eldorado

Hello All! After a several year break, I came back to CoH. Having left at around issue 3 so much has changed that I am in way over my head.

I recently got my DB/WP brute to 50 and love playing her. However, I have been shooting in the dark with IO sets, slotting, and the alpha slot and I need some advice. I group alot and would like to prioritize damage (but not to the extreme detriment of survivability). Playing now, my brute feels weak when watching other incarnates. Any advise on slotting (respec is possible) and good sets/builds would be greatly appreciated! Finally, I went with Musculature for my alpha, if there is a better choice for my char please let me know.

Note: Sweeping strikes is slotted with the Brute AT IO set

First off, I'd definitely pick up Blinding Feint -- yes, it does crappy damage, but it's also the equivalent of "Build Up" for dual blades. Hit the target, do 30% more damage for your next several attacks or the next 10 seconds. And it even stacks with itself!

Secondly, I'd drop Resurgence -- I never waste a power pick on something I can do with an inspiration. Besides, if you build yourself a brute that won't faceplant very often, you won't need it!

Lastly, yeah, I know scrappers aren't brutes but here's a thread (from last week) about someone just getting their DB/WP scrapper to 50 and ending with a VERY survivable and essentially softcapped to smashing/lethal and energy/negative defense character: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=285308

All the powers choices are the same, though your resistance numbers will probably be higher as a brute. Still, it's probably a good place to start reading!

30 level 50's: 12 scrappers, 7 other random melee types, 11 blaster/blapper/support squishies, two accounts, and a TON of altitis since 4/28/04
