DM/SD respec help!
Personally, I think you can do way better than Spiritual. Agility has you lose out on about 8% +rech and gain a massive 3% defense to all. There really isn't any comparison. And speaking of 3% defense... Glad Armor proc. You should be able to put together enough inf to buy one.
Consider Focused Accuracy over Tactics - the tohit debuff resistance is very nice, and you have enough +acc bonuses that there's little point running either power constantly, teams nonwithstanding.
I dislike the lack of +res slotting in True Grit. Sure, it doesn't look like much, but 5% resistance goes a very, very long way on top of softcapped defenses.
Here's my own DM/SD build, which I think runs at a similar total cost to yours. I have a Glad Armor, but no purple sets:

Thanks, Sly!
I think -8% Rech is a big hit, but I'll take a look at it.
What is the number to seek to softcap v. incarnates? Maybe I'll just squeeze in a few percentage points and leave it at that rather than aim for a cap I might not reach without serious compromise and cash. Especially considering I don't do trials much!
I can see a few things I see as defects in your build. I'm not really an expert on SD scrappers (mine got banished from my player server a while back because I didn't feel like going to the trouble of decking it out or finishing it to 50).
However there's a number of places you appear to have passed up on maxing your defense bonuses.
Level 1: Deflection
- (A) Steadfast Protection - Resistance/+Def 3%
- (7) Luck of the Gambler - Recharge Speed
- (9) Red Fortune - Defense
- (9) Red Fortune - Defense/Endurance
Level 2: Battle Agility
- (A) Luck of the Gambler - Recharge Speed
- (11) Red Fortune - Defense
- (11) Red Fortune - Defense/Endurance
Level 32: Midnight Grasp
- (A) Crushing Impact - Damage/Endurance
- (39) Crushing Impact - Damage/Recharge
- (40) Crushing Impact - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge
- (40) Crushing Impact - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance
- (40) Crushing Impact - Damage/Endurance/Recharge
- (42) Gravitational Anchor - Accuracy/Recharge
I know the above won't get you to the incarnate softcap (which I understand to be 59%). However closer is better of course, and my way you gain some recharge without giving anything up.
Too many alts to list.
Yeah. The two Def toggles had twin HO's in them before and got me comfortably over the Def cap. Those cheap-o Red Fortunes are there as a stop-gap until I respec. Thanks, docb!
Here's one of mine that runs really well with either the Spiritual or Agility Alpha T4.
The recharge is good, the travel powers are there, the defenses are really good, and this is with Cytos replacing the Enzymes in i22. It IS a small downgrade (I think I lost .5% Ranged and .4% Mellee overall).

As for softcapping, the incarnate softcap is 59%. The sacrifices required to hit that much defense (even to a single position) probably won't be worth it. Hitting 46.5% to all to softcap to incarnate content by chomping a single small purple is a more practical goal, I think. More defense is, of course, gravy. Defense debuffs are fairly plent¡ful, and SD can't ignore them to the degree SR does.

Dark/Shield Build Thread
Thanks, guys. Appreciate the input!
I'll have to review my funds and see what comes next. Might start saving for a Glad Armor and just try to squeeze out a couple points more Def without dramatically changing the build.
If you build around the Glad Proc you can change your build dramatically.

Dark/Shield Build Thread
I could use a hand with my upcoming respec. I'd like to take my existing build, which I've been happy with for quite a while now, and add more Def (to approach the soft cap even fighting Incarnate enemies) without dramatically sacrificing +Rech. I'm not quite certain what numbers I need to hit Def-wise to cap v. lv54's, but that would be nice.
The recent changes to HO's forced me to drop the Enzymes from my SD toggles and put in some cheap Red Fortunes, but other than that I haven't touched the build much in a couple issues.
I have maybe 1.5bn to spend and 5-10 hero merits saved.
Here's the current build. Thanks for your time and advice!
