Thorns is good. My personal preference is /earth. Ice is a primary designed to play in melee range and earth assault is a secondary that is designed to be played in melee range. The 2 sets combine very well.

Ice/Earth is really good. Total end hog though.

I have a Ice/Fire/Fire and Ice/Energy/Ice. Both pretty good in different ways. The Ice/Fire is a bit more offensive, but that actually comes a lot from the Fire APP. Ice/Energy surprised me in that I expected it to suck much worse than it did, but it holds its own. I do miss Consume from Fire on Energy tho.
Ice/Dark, available in the next issue, looks promising.
Note you may be able to increase your satisfaction with Ice/Psi by picking up Fire as your APP pool. You won't have the single target damage or Embrace of Fire but Fireball and Rain of Fire (plus RotP) add a LOT of AoE damage.
Also note that I personally play Ice as a "donut range" set and not a "melee" one. I do get close to enemies but very rarely am right on top of them. Below is a video I made a few weeks ago showing that concept on Ice/Fire.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will try Ice/Earth and Ice/Fire and see which one I like more. I am Ice/Psi/Ice right now and I have 50ish def vs S/L and if I change that then I might not be softcapped which I would not like. My Aoe is pretty decent and I can kill fairly quick, but the main problem seems to be that Psi is just not that strong vs single targets. I spend most of the time with the last guy standing who is normally a red or purple boss that takes forever to kill.

I have played a ice/thorn through a few levels and it looks pretty strong, but will have no real added control. /earth would be a nice choice due to the mitigation it adds, but can be an end hog by itself. Of course, /fire does it's mitigation the old fashioned way, kill em quick.
My vote would be to wait for the /dark assault. would add lots of mitigation with -tohit and a nice heal to boot.
Yes, I kinda realized that nothing really went as well IMO with ice than ice/psi since both de-buff recharge. I also did not know I22 was coming out so soon. I decided to just stick with waiting to make my long awaited dark/dark dominator. I might try ice/dark down the line though since I really love the doms version of dark assault.

To be honest Ice/Psi doesn't give you all that much synergy. Ice/ can cap mob -rech all by itself rendering the -rech from /Psi moot.

Hello, I have a L50 Ice/Psi Dom that I love and he is totally pimped out with purples and IO's, but I was looking to maybe find a better attack set than Psi. Psi is pretty good, but it is pretty much all range and with AA I am fine being in melee. I am just not sure which would be the best. I was thinking maybe Thorns for all the AoE, but any suggestions will be appreciated! TYVM!
