I'm baaaaack (limited engagement)
Well.. the new incarnate stuff is pretty awesome. Go to Ouro and talk to Mender Ramiel to unlock your alpha slot (do an arc for him). Unless you've got a ton of time (and money) to invest, you might not want to even try doing the newer, tougher trials (MoM, TPN, Underground), but you could probably do ok in Lambda and BAF.
If you don't mind rolling new characters, check out the new powersets.
If you're a Melee type, Street Justice and Titan Weapons are a hoot; if you're not, Time Manipulation or Beam Rifle might be your thang.

That said, OP, you no longer have to pay to play the game, so if money is an issue you needent leave when your time card is up.
Welcome back Cap'n...
If you want to see new game mechanics and the end game content, head to Ouro with your favorite/best toon... Mender Ramiel will set you on the right path.
If you want to see new content... there is the Signature Story Arc (really Task/Strike Forces) series (check your contact window for that), a new set of introductory story arcs and content (roll a new toon or play 'em via Ouro), and
a bunch of new mid level contacts and arcs. There are even a major revision to the Tina McIntyre and Maria Jenkins arc.
If you just want to enjoy it all, pop into your favorite chat channel... I'm sure someone will be online that can either join you (or drag you) through the new stuff if you feel like being social.

Issue 22 will be coming out soon, too, so you'll probably be able to utilize the solo Incarnate content (so you can pursue Incarnate stuff without having to find a League to join).
And new sets will be coming with that, or (hopefully) soon after: Darkness Control, Darkness Assault (more like a proliferation of old Dark powers for Dominators to use as a secondary), Darkness Affinity (altered Dark Miasma without control powers for Controllers to use as a secondary), Staff Fighting, and Beast Mastery. May or may not be pay-for sets.
Hey everyone, it's been awhile. It's good to see that there are a lot of people I recognize still floating around...
so anyway, I decided that, as a birthday present for myself, I'd get a game card and check out all the things that have changed in my first MMO love since I've been gone. I'll be traveling a lot over the next month and I'll have a lot of time sitting in hotel rooms with out much else to do. so I figured "what the hell..." I left a little over 2 years ago, right around the time of I18 (I think it was just before, but i dont remember), and my question to you all is what do I absolutely need to try out? I'll have a couple of weeks (next week being the first) of pretty regular game time and I want to get the most out of the new (to me) content. Let me know what you think and I hope to see you guys in game soon. |
The game has moved to a hybrid model.
So, if you decide you don't want to continue paying the $15/month, you can still play for free with certain limitations.
For what those limits are see here:

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I think i'll swing some of the incarnate stuff first, and maybe roll a street justice toon... Sounds interesting.
And i know that the game is now free to play. Problem is I am paying for two other mmos at the moment, and dont get as much time in those as i would like. For various reasons, I cant take those games with me when i travel, which is one of the reasons that I thought to come back here. And really, is there a point in playing a game where you dont get the full experience (ie by paying for it)?

That said, I don't intend to stop paying to play this game. For various reasons.
