Defense reduction on Widows
Mask Presence, as an invis power loses half it's defense value when stealth suppresses. Works just like Invisibility, Superiority Invisibility and so forth......
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

If you look at the detailed description of the Mask presence power, you'll see 2 values for each defense Value - on mine these are 3.75% and 7.5% - the former is always on, the latter is only valid when stealthed - it's not half of the value that drops when you enter combat - it's that second value, which you obviously have enhanced up closer to 8% than mine

Yes, I RP and play Redside on Virtue - No, Rumors of its demise have been greatly exaggerated
Do you suck at COH/COV? not yet...
I thought that might be it. I didn't see anything listed in the power specifics so I wasn't sure what could have been causing it.

This is most likely it. Another possibility is defense debuffs. I don't believe any Villain Epic gets Defense Debuff Resistance, and most sword and gun and many elemental earth attacks carry Defense Debuffs, which will reduce your defense as well. But if it happens against every enemy, and it's the exact same amount each time, then it's just the +def from your stealth suppressing.

If you're using Stealth from the Concealment Pool (I can't remember if that can activate with Mask Presence), it will lose half its defense when suppressed too.

It does not.

the only source of additional stealth that *will* work with mask presence is a Stealth IO...like the Celerity I have in Sprint that when stacked with Mask Presence lets me stand right next to the bad guys and make raspberries at them with impunity

Or super speed, or any of the other things that can stack with stealth powers. I just wasn't sure if Mask Presence was in the Stealth Group, and thus an exclusive toggle, or in a group of its own (like Hide), and therefore stackable.
@Roderick
Something very off that I have noticed is that while playing on my widow who normally has 54 range defense, 60 melee defense, and 50 AoE defense if I go into any form of combat the defenses drop by about 8 points each. Looking at all of the individual buffs in combat attributes, none of them vanish or change the moment I enter into combat, and yet their sum is inexplicably reduced by about 8 points.
As of late I have been submitting way too many bug reports for game mechanics that I just didn't understand right. My question is this: are the defenses for widows supposed to drop when they enter into combat? If so, why would this be happening?
