Kat/Dark Brute, or Scrapper?

Having leveled a Kat/Dark Scrapper to 50, just wondering if a Brute would be a more survivable toon?

If you're talking about a direct port, Kat/DA scrapper to Kat/DA brute, then the higher resistance values on the armor powers would make the brute more survivable. Of course, you're going to want to heavily leverage Divine Avalanche in both cases.

Just to clarify Brutes and Scrappers have the same resistance values but Brutes have a high cap so with outside buffs like Insp they can have more resistance.

More HP and higher caps will add survivability. Fury will make Cloak of Darkness more effective. Should be an excellent choice.

Sorry. How does Fury make Cloak of Darkness more effective?

The +dmg bonus from fury applies to the damage aura(s), however they don't crit, so in general auras favor Brutes.

To play devil's advocate, I would ask if you've IOd your Kat/Dark scrapper for defense. I did so recently and it would be a pretty edge case where the Brute HP advantage would keep you alive where your scrap would die. Personally, I wouldn't re-roll a Kat/DA scrap for a Brute just for whatever that survivability advantage may happen to be.

But Cloak of Darkness isn't a damage aura...

Whatever, the damage aura. You know, that toggle you turn on when you play dark armor. The one that covers you in black, blackness.

You seem to be thinking of both Death Shroud and Cloak of Darkness. Death Shroud is the damage aura and has kind of a rolling shadow effect around you, but the one that covers you in blackness is Cloak of Darkness. Although if you set it to No Fade or Pulse in the customization options it doesn't really cover you in blackness like it used to.

That was a joke, all 12 DA toggles cover you in black blackness. But yes, I originally meant to say Death Shroud.
