Create the Next Freedom Phalanx Leader!
I expect that. every player will have the opportunity to be the "rising talent" in the sories connecting to The crumbling PF. (assuming it is crumbling).
Besides, Statesman didn't die until a player reaches LVL 40. There is no reason for him to be removed from the game as a whole.
Positron is the new leader of the Freedom Phalanx - but the devs are considering having a competiton for players to create a new member for the Phalanx.

1) The Phalanx isn't crumbling. Roles are being shifted, one or two new recruits are coming in. (They still haven't said if Penny will be PF or some other SG.)

2) He will be removed from the game as a whole, starting in Issue 23. This is a furtherance of the game storyline, not just the "level progression timeline". All content related to Statesman being alive will get a rewrite.

The contest the devs said they'll be holding is interesting, but it makes me wonder what happens to the winning character. Certainly they can't allow the winner to keep playing that character.
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
They might make the rule that the character submissions have to be ones that you haven't made in the game.

Hey everyone,
My suggestion in a nutshell:
Hold a contest (either in-game or on the site) to determine which user-created character will take up Statesman's mantle as Freedom Phalanx Leader.
I also have a few thoughts on the format that I think will help promote quality control and so forth:
REQUIREMENTS
-1 Character per account
-Character must be at least level 50 (preferably incarnate)
-Character must complete the Freedom Phalanx Try-outs Trial (a new trial developed in tandem with this content)
-Heroes only... this is the FP after all!
RULES
-Players vote through an in-game system (or perhaps just on the CoH site as that will probably be easier) to determine the Top 10
-CoH dev's will judge the winner from there
-Characters are judged by powers, back-story, look, over coolness and (maybe) AE arc(?)
PRIZE
Your character becomes an NPC contact in the game that trains other players and has a signature story arc. Character gets an enhanced/personalized costume set and bonus powers.
NOTES
I think this contest will really help players to engage with the game in a more meaningful way than ever before. The customization of this game, both in abilities and costumes, is really what keeps me coming back and I know that that is probably also true for many of you. This seems to be the next logical step in player participation and direction of the game. And it would just be a damn cool gesture for the dev's to recognize the awesomeness of all the countless heroes / heroines that we have created and come to love so much.
Anyway, that's all I got. Anyone have anything to add / contribute?
Thanks!
