Brute or tank? Or something else?

I want to make a cheap build that can power level my sg friends if need be, I read that ss/fire brute is the best for that, but would Fire/SS be cheaper? I have about 200 mill saved up so anything that would fit in that price range would be awesome. I know fire/kin is a great farmer but I can't get into trollers.. not enough Damage. Any advice would be awesome! thanks. And I did do some research on this topic.. but I'm asking anyway.

my recommendations would be the following depending on what you want...

Katana/Dark Armor...scrapper or brute slot for M/R/A defense and +recovery and go to town...(scrapper gets some nice criticals)

Claws(or spines or Dark Melee) /Invulnerability is a very "tanky" character...slot for Defense S/L/E/N

Dark Melee/Shield...this might be THE most survivable scrapper combo out there right now.

Claws/Super Reflexes...this will get your positional Def soft capped with virtually no effort...though it will be an end hog until mid-later levels

If you don't mind spending more influence later...try a katana/Regen or DM/Regen...but regens like a lot of recharge and so you will want to get LOTG +Rech IO's and they are pricey...

Katana/Dark Armor sounds interesting, would the combo be better for farming on a Brute then? Or would a Scrapper do just fine? and would about 200 mill fit with that?

I would personally go brute and take agility alpha and barrier slot for def/recharge and endredux pick the damage aura and slot it with sciroccos or multistrike and kill everything in sight when you build divine avalanche I usually slot 4 melee damage set and 2 lotg (+rech and def) happy hunting

Don't farm w/ ANY of these. If I was offered a free farm from any of those builds, I would deny it and wait for something better.

Sorta depends on how you intend to farm.

I would think it's a simple matter of pairing a heavy aoe primary with a damage contributing secondary

that means fire or elec armor, fire is better with

super strength kind of one trick pony but as far as I know ss/fire brute still is top ticket farmer, tw, maybe claws, maybe fire if you go tank.

Edit: I'll toss in maybe elec/shield scrapper, as I believe shield has a taunt aura, I can't stand elec melee so can't comment

Since you're planning to farm, you'll want a Brute. The more enemies you have piled around attacking you, the more damage you will do because of Fury. AE Fire Farms are still pretty lucrative, even with nerfs to ambushes, etc.

AFAIK, SS/Fire/Mu is still king when it comes to AE farming because of Rage, shoot for high Fire Defense from IO sets, and fight enemies that only do Fire damage. Any attack that manages to get through your defense will be highly resisted. Use inspirations to make up for defense, that way you can soft-cap with only 20%(2 purple insps) or 32.5%(1 purple insp) Fire Defense.

Slot your single target attacks with taunt sets(nice bonuses) as you won't be using them...ever. Only slot your aoe's for damage, they're all you'll need(Foot Stomp, Burn, Electric Fences, Ball Lightning). Slot a Force Feedback +rech proc in Foot Stomp(very important). Other than that slot for high recharge(try to fit 5 LotG +rech IO's). Make or look for some decent macros to convert extra insps into either damage or defense, use damage insps asap while farming, but remember to use Def insps to stay at the soft-cap or you'll faceplant pretty quickly.

Disclaimer: This type of build will suck outside of AE Fire farms, badly. If you ever plan to use this character outside of AE, you should make your second build with at least 32.5% Defense to S/L, high recharge, and go /Soul instead of /Mu(to pick up Gloom, it's just that sexy). On my SS/Fire I farmed AE until I had collected enough money/recipes to build a decent non-farm build, and THEN I did Incarnate trials.

How much would a decent SS/Fire/Mu build cost me? like I said I have about 200 mill saved up, I also have a lowbie Elec/Sd scrap but I think that'd be more expensive to make able to farm.

This is a budget build I would use on a Brute for a farm...as you are farming you can buy better enhancements later...but you should find this completely acceptable with lots of AoE in it...I would also say that I am pretty sure this will come in close to your budget but I cannot say with definitive certainty as I am not 100% sure what some of these are bringing at wentworth's right now...

Here is a Kat/DA build...I would recommend Ageless Destiny and perhaps also get Barrier to interchange and for judgement I would take the Vorpal Radial with +Def as your resists are already in good shape...

Just because YOU think it is less than optimal doesn't mean that it won't work for someone else, and suppose they wanted to do something outside of AE Farm???

BTW, Katana is an EXTREMELY fast set...with the right recharge and Patron/Epic powers you can farm with this set very easily...and dark armor has a damage aura that is VERY good...slotted properly it is like a constant mini nuke w/taunt. Just because it isn't FOTM or won't be the absolute fastest doesn't mean it won't work.

I know a guy who farms with a TW/WP and he is every bit as fast as any one I've seen farming...his build cost 4 bil + influence though, and this guy is looking to spend $200 mil. Not even in the same ballpark...

When I made my farmer, the main cost was time. With 200 mil inf, I'd think you could get most of the sets here, short maybe one obliteration set, the lotg procs, and the procs in health. That's if you buy recipes and make them yourself(buying pre-made IO's is generally a waste of inf). At first you want 20% or more Fire Defense, be sure to have some small purple insps(pop 2 at a time to soft-cap), pop Rage + FE in the mob, push buttons, profit. Just remember to monitor your defense so you'll know when to pop 2 more purples, and look into inspiration combining macros.

Lacking some of those IO's initially will mean you'll have lower recharge to begin with, but remember, you're going to be farming a lot, right? You'll be making lots of tickets, which you can roll for recipes(I advise Silver or Gold rolls, lvl 35-39), then play the market and make tons of inf, or save IO's you think you'll want for a 2nd build. I suggest making your own private SG base, buying Workrooms, and stocking them with Enhancement tables. You can use these to store the "good" IO's you want to keep for your second build/alts.

This may seem like a fixer upper project, but when it's finished you'll have a very productive AE fire farmer.

BTW, Katana is an EXTREMELY fast set...with the right recharge and Patron/Epic powers you can farm with this set very easily...and dark armor has a damage aura that is VERY good...slotted properly it is like a constant mini nuke w/taunt. Just because it isn't FOTM or won't be the absolute fastest doesn't mean it won't work.

I know a guy who farms with a TW/WP and he is every bit as fast as any one I've seen farming...his build cost 4 bil + influence though, and this guy is looking to spend $200 mil. Not even in the same ballpark...

OP--Go SS/FA. It'll take a bit of money to make a decent build for it, but you'll get so much more money in return.
