Super Group Invite Token

I think there should be a token that can be bought in the store (or perhaps earned), that allows me to email a Super Group invite to my offline friends or my own alts.

I really hate making a new toon and then having to wait for someone else to log on and invite him to the Super Group that I created. An Invite Token that can be purchased and emailed would solve this nicely. It's also a repeat purchase, which I am sure is looked at favorably by TPTB.

I've seen this kind of thing suggested for years and it'd probably be as workable as other "offline SG invite" ideas have been. Unfortunately the Devs (the "TPTB") have specifically told us on several occasions that they consider supergroups to be "group content" and have arbitrarily opposed any new feature that would make them more convenient to single players or offline players.

It's always possible that they'll finally be convinced that their mindset on this has been needlessly contrary to what most of their players want. But until that happens I'm not going to expect anything like your idea to happen in this game.

If your machine can handle dual-boxing for even short periods, I'd say create a secondary account and take it Premium.

Create an alt on the account and invite it to your SG. Use that one to perform your SG invites.

Yes, this is probably the best "workaround" for this problem at the moment. But ironically as long as workarounds like this exist the Devs will likely be that much -less- motivated to ever make this any easier.

I know there is a workaround, which is why it makes sense to offer a more "legit" solution.

If people are already taking elaborate steps to accomplish it, and no harm is being done to the integrity of the system, then why not just offer a solution that gives players what they want, while also profiting from it with their new micro-payment model.

We already know if the Devs had their way they'd probably try to figure out a way to make the workaround NOT work. Clearly they tolerate it because as you say there's no real harm in it. But likewise since they DON'T really want it to happen there's no motivation for them to make it any easier either.

Sure you could use the argument that they might make a little money by selling tokens for this. But our Devs have a long history of standing by their own principles for their vision of this game regardless of opportunities for quick profit. We may not like their position on this but it is refreshing to know they are willing to stand up to what they believe regardless.

Besides we also know that CoH:Freedom has in general given them a boatload of cash in recent months so it's not like they have to exploit every last way to make a buck. My guess is they are going to be willing to lose out on this opportunity. *shrugs*

Because the devs, Positron specifically, have said, NO. They have even gone so far as to flat out tell us in a Ustream 3 months ago that if they ever decided to add a feature that allowed us to email offline SG invites they would deliberately design it so we would not be able to send invites to characters on the same account.

As much as we want this to be added to the game, the devs are adamant in their refusal.

Yep. If the company was willing to compromise their principles to make a quick buck they wouldn't be refusing to add any of a dozen of features players have been begging for for years, like Power Set respecs, re-releasing Power Slide, customizable vehicles, auto leveling, selling influence, etc, etc, etc.

Though they have said that if a player wants to shell out tons of development money, they're at least open to listen.

*Reaches into back pocket for a few spare million*

You'll recall that they never said anything about not laughing in your face while they listened.

I can pretty much guarantee that if I plunk a few tens of millions down, they'll be quite polite and stoic whilst I'm in the room, take my money, then wait until I'm out of the building before laughing at what a ******* I am.

Then, when my paid-for expansion comes out, I'd be the one laughing.

Better make sure you have something in writing AND have an attorney go over it or you'll probably never see your paid for expansion.

Sure. But then again most of us live in the "real" world where a hypothetical scenario like this will never happen. If you happen to know a random Saudi prince/nerd who has nothing better to waste his millions on than to throw it at Paragon Studios then more power to you.
