Opinions about possibly changing how a couple of Crab powers work

Okay, well, this is a bit backwards. Because I just finished sending Synapse a PM about looking into correcting what I believe are a couple of inconsistencies within the Crab Spider attack list, and now I'm curious as to whether other Crab players would be open to these fixes if Synapse agreed with them. They are as follows:

Longfang: Change damage type to energy. It uses the same Crab arm as Channelgun (which deals energy damage), the same animation, and the same "energy" VFX. Even the power's description makes it seems like it should deal energy damage:

Quote:
Your Longfang Channelgun may also fire short bursts of energy, causing greater damage. This attack also reduces your foe's defense.
Now, what's interesting is that even NPC Crab Spiders with Longfang deal lethal damage. So in my opinion, this was an error that goes all the way back to the CoV launch. But I think it should be corrected nonetheless, because everything about the power leads one to think it would deal energy damage. I'd also like the NPC version of Longfang to be corrected as well.

Omega Maneuver: Change accepted damage IO set to PBAoE. Other location-based PBAoE powers like Shield Charge and Burn accept PBAoE sets, so why does Omega Maneuver get stuck with Targeted AoE sets?

And that's it. Would any Crab player be opposed to these two changes? If so, why?

First one, yeah, I can see it changing. All other crab attacks have energy damage.

As for the second one, I dunno. I quite like how Omega bomb works at the moment. The dam/range on it is useful, when slotted with Positron and that 6.25% recharge works better for us for 5 slots than a 5% one.

Well, that didn't take long. Synapse replied to me and explained why he doesn't agree with the suggestion. In fairness, I thought it was a longshot when I PMed him, so no skin off my nose. And hey, it's not like Crabs are suffering because Longfang deals lethal damage and Omega Maneuver takes Targeted AoE IOs, right?

Did he give a lore reason for anything and care you share the info?

Omega Maneuver's major issue doesn't really stem from its IO set category. And Longfang's problem is primarily its subpar animation time.

He feels Longfang should stay the same because he believes the lethal damage is an intentional design decision. And he's very hesitant to change the IO type accepted by Omega Maneuver because it would screw up the builds of those who've already slotted it. Fairly standard answers, but both legitimate. At least he answered me (and a lot faster than I thought he would, as well!).

My two cents:

I don't play my Crab much, but his Longfang definitely has different sound and FX than Channelgun - it looks/sounds like it shoots bullets. I don't know why they'd put an energy-gun and a bullet-gun in the same arm, but then, I'm not* an Arachnos mad scientist. I wouldn't be terribly opposed to changing both the damage type and the animation, I guess.

Burn and Shield Charge are actual PBAoEs - they originate from the player's location. Omega Maneuver isn't, so it's better compared to Rain of Fire or Ice Storm, which do take TAoE sets.

*well, sometimes I am, but I work more in the doomsday device division than the personal firearms division.
