I just bought this Christmas a new TV that has hdmi built in to it. i hooked my desktop to it so i could view computer on the TV screen or on the small desktop screen. The issues I’m running into is when I’m on the LG TV screen the fonts are tiny to see when sitting on my couch from 10 feet away. I don’t have a super high end computer .

I wrote to Gm Levion { in game} to ask what could be done all he had was for me to change the font height the font height in options menu only effects the "chat " window not the NPC / Mission pop up menu / Store(s)

I’m asking the GM’s / developers – to add a HDMI control panel to the options

*** Font size Control for / Menu(s) [Missions / Store / Story]
*** NPC Font control – In Game world Name header / Player Header

Why on earth would the Devs waste time with some kind of HDMI GUI when you could just mess around with your window scales?

Sounds like what he's asking for is what's called a 10 foot UI. But you're right, it's unnecessary here. He can just adjust the default UI of the game to suit his setup.

I almost jumped in and recommended window scale, but that doesn't affect things like player and NPC names, so it's not a full solution.

The only way to "fix" that currently is to turn down your display resolution.

the reason i posted this was that i spoke to tech support - i know i'm in a small collection of player that use thier TV for game players

all i'm asking is for a bit more control with diffrent media

it might not be the way now but give it a few years and most player will be using thier tv to player COH ( i know some major gamer that play WOW and everquest on thier tv)

what im asking is not unherd of

and the idea to add bigger fonts - does not work as that wolud be (1) ultering the game code which would get me kicked out of the game
(2) still does not work as even the larger font would still have to work with the game curent settings ( AKA stenicl font set at 12 would still be view on a 32 inch screen at 12 font size even if you set the font size to 63)

and then i have to fix the mission menu / store popup
i'm not asking to fix other player games only how i as a player view the game

The dev told me that the current window set up will not work with any tv set up

*** NPC / Player **** Font Size Control ****
*** Mission / Store / Story Pop-up Font Size Control ( not chat Font ) ****

As mentioned, adjusting the window scale will get you most of the way there. It makes the entire UI bigger, fonts and all. That includes not only chat windows, but mission text, your power icons, all of it. There's an option to change it globally in the Graphics settings, or you can adjust individual windows by using a slash command.

The only thing that doesn't fix are the player names above people's heads. That takes a font replacement. There's no modification to the game, it's just putting an extra file into a directory that the game sees and uses -- if the devs didn't want us to be able to do that they could easily shut it off.

The downsides of that are that (1) you'd need a custom font, that at size 12 actually renders as if it were say, size 36. A font editor program can make this. And (2) It will increase the font size of everything in the UI, making it incompatible with the window scale option, so your icons and windows would still be small.

I would really like to see an option added for adjusting the size of player / SG names in the game world, it's the only thing that's missing that would be needed to do this without having to replace fonts. It could be just a generic size option, there's nothing TV specific about it. Far-off players are hard enough to read on an ultra-high-DPI laptop screen as it is.
