The rebuilding has begun

I Burnt The Toast

Posted

Yesterday I had the idea to finally play with the new movement/placement for the base editor. After about a minute I was hooked. Almost a year ago I had a very nice base builder help design my base. It looked great, but as time passed I have wished that it was my vision, not what someone else's vision. But I left it alone for fear that I couldn't fix it or do any better. I deleted everything, a bit scary. I have redone my enterance and started on the control and energy rooms. I still have a long way to go, but I am having a blast. Once I figure out how to post pictures I will. Any ideas out there for a heavy tech base. I won't lie seeing some of the other builders pics really helps.

Nice start!
I see you already got the hang of raising and lowering objects. My advise is to mess with the possibilities and ideas first. My experience is that after a while you will probably want to change stuff, because you learned to do new stuff, and the old stuff simply won't cut it anymore (i restarted building my base 3 times before i got something i really liked).

Also make sure to join the BaseBuildersInc. channel and visit as many bases as you can. I'm sure a lot of people in there are willing to help you out if you have questions.

good luck!

Silly question.. I know how to raise and lower (SHIFT) and how to move horizontal (CTRL)...but how do you turn things just a few degrees>?

While this might be true, it's no more a hindrance on the item count than using a lot of desks as a second -floor- for multiple rooms.

Yeah, desks sure add up (floors are high on my base "wish" list)! Depends what you're doing, though. In the case at hand, lights are being used not just for stairs but also for walkways. Really quick way to run up an item count. But as I said, fortunately its a smallish plot anyways.
