Driver Crash. Still?

When CoH decided it was the game's business to police Driver versions of the players I was glad that the devs gave us -ignorebaddriver to deal with it. From what I guess was a recent patch, the flag is being ignored and I keep getting the "Outdated Driver Crash". It just happened twice in 15minutes .

First I thought maybe the flag didn't work when added to my projectcoh shortcut to skip the launcher, but after the first crash I used the launcher and got the driver crash the very first time I tried to zone.

Has anyone else notice this flag being broken?

I'd be very interested in knowing what your system has in it to require use of old drivers.

I know, it's frustrating, but trying to run a Baja 1000 with a Yugo, so to speak, is going to give you problems, and that's just plain physics. So it is with Co*, and using old anything that it doesn't really care for... well... yeah, you might need to address that issue directly, instead of putting up with the -ignorebaddriver thing.

Maybe they were having such issues with support calls with people who used the switch but still had other issues related to using it, they decided to ignore the ignore? :dunno:

I really need to put it in my sig lol. I run a craptop from 2007. The manufacturer makes no newer drivers, and 3rd party ones recommended here hurt my pc more than anything ive ever done to a computer in my life. I can play coh fine, until they expanded their stupid list of drivers deemed to be "outdated" and now I get the driver crash all the time. The driver literally hasn't changed since 2007(after undoing the 3rdparty disaster), the change that controls what the devs like us to run is causing the crash.

They gave us the flag to help with it, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

If you can get to the log-in screen, then the -ignorebaddriver flag is doing its job. Without the -ignorebaddriver flag, if you had one of the problematic driver, then the game would refuse to start.

If you are crashing when you are changing zones, that has nothing to do with what the -ignorebaddriver flag does. This flag was put in to allow players with potentially bad drivers to proceed into the game. It won't prevent any crashes with bad drivers.

Your best bet is to make sure you are sending in the crash reports with decent descriptions. If it is crashing in the game and not in the drivers, we may be able to resolve it. But, if it is crashing in the drivers, and only in older drivers, it is difficult for us to track these problems down.

From what I heard when the driver-allowed list was modified a couple months ago this started happening to a lot of people, I assumed the flag was helping since it went away for awhile. When I zone or adjust my graphics via the slider I run the risk of a popup called "Outdated Driver Detected" something, it cites a 3rdparty dll likely crashing, and boots me out. It also has done it on my mom's (newer) laptop, and possibly my sister's too, I don't remember.

Since my drivers haven't changed, and the coh graphics haven't been overhauled since ultra mode I don't know why I'm getting this all of a sudden.

Well, they make code changes all the time... tweaks here, tweaks there... probably tweaked your computer off, so to speak.

I mean, they also stopped letting Win98 and Win2000 computers work (I think... something like that anyway) to 'get people with the program'.

I think a CoHHelper would be very enlightening, if you wouldn't mind. I'm just terribly curious now what's goin' on with your 2007 computer... because my 2006 computer still runs it...?
