A valiant volution DD!

Last year I dropped out because I had one month where I was overworked. A cure for that would be good. Perhaps you can fill in for me in the office

It was not my plan, but that meant I was gone when the psychotic stuff happened. Whatever happens in 2012 (that doesn't wipe out the internet or deflate the planet) should promote fun over metrics. Perhaps a side vote each month to determine who was the biggest fun-sucker, and take away their points... oh the irony!

(I'm really just here to show off my goldname)

And yes.. they really should come up with a cure for being overworked! I'm still battling that one myself more than I want!

I did notice the Gold names! Well... my own that is. It appears we're being welcomed in Gold *nods*. It's a start .

Prizes:
Monthly:
The winner of the month will win 25 million influence in-game.
The runner up of the month will win 10 million influence in-game.
3rd prize is 5 million influence in-game.

Bonus Prizes***:
April: a one hour personal "one-on-one" tutorial/training on demoediting from the one and only Samuraiko.

June: a digital coloured portrait drawing by DeeDee of a City of Heroes related character chosen by the winner.

August: a (scanned) pencil drawing by the amazing Temperus of a City of Heroes related character chosen by the winner.

*** depending on the amount of participants, the months may be altered so all Bonus Prizes can be issued incase the battle appears to take shorter than planned.

Final round:
1st place: 200 million influence in-game
2nd place: 100 million influence in-game
3rd place: 50 million influence in-game

With many many thanks to Bubbawheat for making the influence available and also to all the artists contributing to the Bonus Prizes.

First I want to do another awesome update on the bonus prizes:

October: an inked and shaded drawing by the most talented Flame_Strike of a City of Heroes related character chosen by the winner. !

And.... finally... on this not so white Christmas (well in the Netherlands, that is) I have now revealed January's theme!!

One other thing I was thinking about, since there is a #CityOfHeroes group on deviantArt you might consider not restricting it to only those with a VIP account as long as they post to the #CityOfHeroes FArt folder. Entirely up to you though. Hope this year goes smoothly and good luck!

Voters *could* vote on DA aswell, I suppose...
But then keeping track of possible "double" votes due to different nicknames will become very hard to filter.
Perhaps the next battle is better be held on Deviant Art completely. *nods*

Okay. The entering rules have been expanded to Deviant Art:
non-VIP member can now enter the battle aswell!!
Voting, however, will still remain on the forums (unless someone comes up with an excellent alternative before the first voting round)

Entering the 2012 FArt Battle can be done until the deadline of March 2012.
For an artist to enter the 2012 FArt Battle he/she simply has to enter his/her art piece which follows the rules and settings of the 2012 FArt Battle before the deadline of the months January, February and/or March 2012.

Artists that enter in February or March will have to do ‘make up’ art for the months they didn’t participate in. This does not include quick sketches but have to be finished pieces.
The ‘make up’ art has to be entered by the deadline of March and will not participate in any voting.
If an artist fails to put up the ‘make up’ pieces he/she is disqualified from participating in this year's battle any further.

Artists that are not (or no longer) in the battle may enter an art piece for the battle, but that piece will not be put up for voting.

To enter your art piece you will need a place to host your piece (like DeviantArt.com). Upload it there and put a link to it in a reply in the designated thread on the City of Heroes forums - Multi-media Fan Creations, which is named FArt Battle 2012 - {month}.

You can also enter your piece in the FArt Battle 2012 folder in the official City of Heroes Group on Deviant Art.
Each or both ways will be sufficient.

Artists who do not have access to a great part of the forums (like non-VIP members) can enter the battle by entering their pieces into the FArt Battle 2012 folder in the official City of Heroes Group on Deviant Art.
Regarding the votes, a little clearification added:

Yeah the best idea at least for this year is to keep voting on the CoH boards, there's always fewer art than votes and it's easier to keep track of art on dA & the boards than it is for votes in two places. And it would be harder to catch people trying to double vote.

The prize of the final round has been set!

The winner of the FArt Battle of 2012 will receive a drawing of a City of Heroes related character of choice by David Nakayama!

He has agreed to a head/bust drawing like what he does on conventions.

To be able to get more votes when the time is there, the voting thread will be put up in the ALL ACCESS part of the forums.

I have started a simular thread on the ALL ACCESS part of the forums so this battle is easier to follow for the free-players too.
Free players can now also join this battle by submitting their pieces in the ALL ACCESS FArt Battle 2012 - {month} thread.

In the voting thread that follows I will put every submission from both VIP and ALL ACCESS.

Starting February, all will be updated and placed in the ALL ACCESS part of the forums.
