OpenGL Driver

So I recently downloaded CoH because I saw that it was free to play now and was interested in getting back into it. But when I downloaded it and went to play, a message came up saying this:

"An OpenGL driver for your video card 'Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics' was not found.

The game will not run with your current configuration.

Please update your video card drivers in order to add OpenGL support. Go to www.nvidia.com, www.ati.com, or www.intel.com to update your video card driver. In some cases such as laptops, you may need to get the video drivers from your computer manufacturer.
"

Now I tried a few things that I thought might be the right way to fix it but I'm not too talented with a computer so it didn't work out. I have a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop with a Intel Core i5-2410m CPU @ 2.3GHz and 64 bit system and a Radeon TM HD 6490M graphics card. I'm not really sure if this information will help but any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help but I'm afraid that didn't work out. Once I installed it a message came up saying:

"AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer.

The version of your graphics adapter is not supported.

Please contact your notebook manufacturer for a graphics driver update.

There are approximately 4,452 different dv7 notebooks... which one is yours?

For example, I found a dv7-4223ca, but it's driver IS NOT for your video card. It's for some others.

Therefore, post exactly which DV7 you have, or better yet, go here:
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

Click on the 'Drivers and Software' area, then tell it your model number, like shown above. You'll find it on the laptop somwhere. Or, ostensibly, it can be told to ask your laptop what it needs... but there's no guarantee it'll figure out the driver for the video... it may think it's just peachy, and not do it. (ATI and OpenGL don't exactly like each other sometimes... so you get what you're gettin'. But DX10, it'll work yesterday... Go figure. )

It will give you the correct driver, and you will install it. It will then hopefully work. If not... well... You're seeing why I don't buy anything to do with ATI, to be honest, because of silliness like this.

/I kid you not, search for just DV7, and there are *hundreds* of different builds... it's stupid.

Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012

that's because there are many of us who order them with numerous different configurations, but really there aren't but a tenth of those (at most) with different GPU/mobos. But yeah if you goto the drivers/support section of the HP site there's a place where you can put in your exact model (that number, well actually there's two different numbers on the bottom of your laptop) and get the driver listing.

Agreed with checking your laptop manufacturer's downloads for drivers for your video card. However, frequently manufacturers are bad at updating drivers and you may need to go to ATI to download drivers directly. Check which version is currently working with the game; I've been seeing quite a bit of comments on this driver or that driver being problematic.

From what you're saying it sounds like you don't have any drivers installed for your video card or they're corrupted... either that or your laptop doesn't have a discrete video card and is using the Intel HD graphics built into the CPU.

COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes

Pretty much why I had to say "I dunno. You do it.". I couldn't find the exact one that listed that video card... so I couldn't say for sure "HERE." I love to say "HERE" on this kinda stuff, it makes me feel incredibly awesome for having found it for the person. Ah well.

We're all glad you got it goin'!

/Well, maybe not GenericUser00623425, but that guy is odd, and he didn't show up anyway.
//and he's totally made up, I think... I should probably check the user list or something...

I am using an ASUS with a Radeon HD 5870 Graphics card, which has been completely updated by am driverautodetect, I also am using Catalyst Control Center 12.1. I can't even start CoF because I keep getting "An OpenGL driver for your video card 'ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series' was not found." I am a tech moron so any advice would be very much appreciated.

It's best to start a new thread for your problem rather than piggy backing another. State the model number of your laptop rather than just saying Asus. As others will tell you, use a driver cleaner to remove the old stuff, and go to AMDs site for the most current Radeon drivers.
