What's even worse is early in the beta for whichever issue shields were in, there WAS a fire shield that looked a bit more like a fire shield instead of a lava shield. Or so I remember, I could be wrong. I forget why they took it out.

While the Fire element shield is... okay, I guess, it's more like a molten lava shield. So, begging for a fire element shield which is made from just flames. It can even be called Flame shield to make it different from the old Fire shield!
You could wrap the left arm up with a fire aura type thing, or have the flames spread away from the arm or something.
Second suggestion is what I suggest every time - heroic Paragon Protectors as neutral entities in low level zones to be the 'friendly face' of Crey.
