FIRE DARK question
Make a Fire/Time instead :P.
Fire/Dark- Superior -ToHit, patch can be stacked for -60% Res, Fearsome Scare is not only great for shutting down a mob it slows things down a bit keeping them in patch, Amazing Rez/Stun, A bit tough on end though, Stealth power I could go on and on but with Fire/Time you're almost looking dealing with the same Playstyle but just a different animal
Fire/Time- Good -ToHit, Slowed Response can stack for a small amount of time for up to -84% Res, Distortion Field is great for mitigation as well as stacking with Time's Juncture, One could build up a good defensive toon easily, Chrono Shift Keeps your blasts firing and helps with end issues...
To sum it up entirely I would recommend making a Fire/Dark and Fire/Time on beta and get them bumped to 50 to test them out...to be honest I challenge you to not fall in love with both toons/combinations.
I do enjoy Fire/Dark don't get me wrong but to me Fire/Time Plays very similar but just more "up close and personal/Melee" Range.

i played with time and dark on mids and i have to say on paper time looks more defensive and has more buffs, however, even though time has a defense buff and an end buff, dark has darkest night which in my opinion, is the most, if not most powerful debuff move in this game, the only thing thats tempting me to dark is its playstyle and it goes with my concept, plus i get a lovely pet to go with it all, time just seems all futuristic like and thats not what im trying to go for.
although your explanation and reasoning for time strongly influences me, im still stumped, i will try both and see where it gets me, thanks alot for the advice.

Just from eyeballing your build, you need more recharge. Tar patch needs 2 rech commons in it. Slow is probably not necessary since the slow stacks with rain of fire's slow.
You want Howling Twilight since it is your -500% regen power, mag 2 stun and an AoE ally rez. It is autohit and works fine 2-slotted with recharge commons. What to drop for it is up to you, but I would drop phase shift.
You can live without defense, since Dark easily floors tohit on its own, but it's still valuable against highly level shifted enemies (since purple patch reduces your debuffs) and situations where you have to run past gauntlets of enemies (speed TFs, Lambda).
Replace your siphon insights with 6-slotted Cloud Senses for 6.25 rech and 3.125 ranged def. The tohit debuff is slightly lower but I haven't found that to be a problem since dark already overdoses on -ToHit.
The best slotting I have found for twilight grasp, if you can pull 2 extra slots from somewhere else, is 5 doctored wounds + 1 acc. I'd probably drop the gaussian's proc in tactics - the chance that it'll fire when you are in combat is probably negligible.
Finally, be warned that this build is extremely end-heavy. My fire/dark was unplayable without cardiac alpha.
Actually I would think that Fire/Dark would be a safer combo to play. Fire other than the nuke doesn't have any business being in melee.

I think both combos are great...and it really depends on if you want to "melee blast" or just range blast. When it comes to utility, support and Team wipe recovery Dark cannot be matched.
@Sypher- I would go for Ageless as well so you can later on Nuke with no issues. I built my Ice/Dark a little different than yours but my toon was designed for League play. I took vengeance and I didn't worry about protecting Dark Servant since he recharges so fast and he can normally hold his own anyway.
No problem and I have to say right back at you: After reading your response and theme I understand, Darkest night is a great power and it does sound like your theme leans towards dark more than time. I would so go for Dark. Time is amazing as well but it doesn't have as many buff/debuff tools as Dark does.

yeah dark seems pretty fun right now im having a blast but i also made a rad/time, because rad with -def, and time because it is super cool :P
appreciate the advice Negate

is howling twilight accessible to use at any time or do u need an ally in range?
seems like good advice ill be sure to check it out thanks Laevateinn.
You can only use it if there's a baddie. You do need an ally in range but I believe the range is pretty huge...I'm the worst when it comes to math in this game but I think the range is equal to you typical AOE so lets use RoF for instance. As long as the baddie is that far away from your downed teammate the Rez will work. Can someone else please swoop in and assist me LOL.

@Draeth Darkstar
Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30)) Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.
There you go lol.
I gotta say, i am more of a Melee toon player, but my goal is to get one of every AT up to 50, so far i have a slew of Brutes, Scrappers, Tanks, and Stalkers up there along with a Dominator and a Fortunata....i think that corruptors are pretty awesome, and this combo fire/dark intrigued me after reading this thread and another in the forums. So i played this guy up to level 17 thus far, so far its quite fun and powerful, even simple things like Tar Patch, Fireball, Rain of Fire, enjoy the Scourge....now with Howling twilight its even more fun! SO here is the build i am rolling with, i appreciate any input, or if you corr experts see anything glaringly wrong. I have a habit of always softcapping Def, so thats why i did that, and i went for pure damage, recharge and some nice -tohit.....the one power i am unsure of is BREath of Fire, its slow in animation, but its nice to have at the lower levels for an attach chain, thoughts on this? Here it is, thanks for the feedback!

To add to the Fire/Dark thoughts... here's something I genned up quick for a friend's Fire/Dark. Quick notes: ~45% S/L/E, Hasten is 3 secs offa Perma, and can maintain 2 Tar Patches at all times... do they stack from Same caster? Anyhow, here's the build... thoughts/tweaks? Also it is assuming T4 Agility for the soft-cap, so will be shy as it works up to there.

A question about fire dark combo.
i know ive posted before about it but i have some more questions about it and only felt it was relevent to post a new thread regarding this.
for instance, with darkest night running, will i need to be softcapped to any damage type, should i just get say 32% defense, pop a purple if situations get hairy?
i can get perma hasten fine so thats not a trouble.
i have a decent ST attack chain plus the aoe fireball is good with purples put into it.
on one build i chose elec mastery, only because power sink seems like a lovely end healer and thunder strike is a good aoe monster with fire ball and rain of fire and fire breath.
i took grant invisibility as a lotg set mule recharge 7.5% but it can also buff the dark servant.
then invisibility as a set mule too, but phase shift for hairy situations incase i need to run off and heal up.
i will post this version of the build, plz give your critique and if you can give me build advice on how to make it better, i heard fire/dark is a good soloing combo and team friendly.
