Game freezes when talking to contacts

Hyperstrike

I just resubscribed to the game 2 days ago after being inactive since pre I19. The game freezes EVERY time i talk to a contact - making it impossible to play. Will i renew for next month? Not at this rate..

Yes i've seen numerous threads already on the subject, but they all seem to be from I19 timeframe and none had a clear solution other than rollback drivers and hope for the best. I am currently using the latest & greatest Nvidia drivers and I don't want to roll back to drivers from 2010 when it is almost 2012.

Anyway this is the same PC i was using preI19. Just to be sure I reduced graphics quality to absolute minimum and it makes no difference, still freezes.

Yes my sound drivers are old, but I dont see how that could be relevant to opening an ingame window.

HiJackThis log would be helpful.

As a wild guess without any data to work on, if you are running anything like RivaTuner, EVGA Precision Tool or anything similar to adjust settings on the video cards, fans, etc I'd recommend turning it off. They are known to interfere with the game.

Also, the drive the game is installed on is getting extremely low on space, percentage-wise.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

It is likely an incompatibility with another application.

The most common two I know of are "Riva Tuner" and the Evga GPU overclock utility. Other such GPU tweakers may also cause the same problem.

Do you have any such items installed on your system?

If you could post your HijackThis log (Follow the links in my sig image), that'd go a long way towards us diagnosing something in your operating system environment.

Your hardware doesn't appear to have anything that just jumps out and screams "I'm wrong! WRONG WRONG WRONG!" at us.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Hi all,

Please do not engage in thread necromancy. If you would like to discuss a thread that has not seen activity in some time, please do so in a new thread, and if necessary, link to the older thread. This is to reduce forum clutter, and to avoid confusing players with out-of-date information.

Thank you!
