My Latest Comic
Some parts of the story were a little tricky to follow but overall it's well written and an entertaining read. I enjoyed it.
May want to check over your wording and phrasing a bit more (i.e. "Do you know, you more you hit me..." should be "the more you hit me"
and "My powers do not effect it" should be "affect it" etc etc) and maybe a few too many uses of the light reflection sparkle.
P.S. Two others I was less certain about (and perhaps some of our more British forumites could say better than I) but also sounded off to me were:
I've not heard the phrase "that simply isn't cricket" to mean something unfair... perhaps something like "that wasn't very sporting"
and instead of him saying Tax levels have just been "increased" at the end perhaps "raised" (unless the British say
increased instead of raised when talking about taxes going up and I just don't know it).
Thanks for posting it. Cheers!
hehe, 'It's just not cricket' and other versions of that is definately a British phrase, It's seen as quite a high brow complaint, posh people complaining of yobs at ascot, etc, it's not the done thing, it's just not cricket, implying that cricket is a sport with rules and they're all proper to the british gentleman... Don't quote me, and i can't be arsed to research it to see if my outlandish comment is right, but wasn't cricket invented by the residents of india?
Increased and raised, same thing isn't it, both mean 'becoming more'.
Only saying as a Brit, not intending any bi-cultural based offence
quote: Don't quote me, and i can't be arsed to research it to see if my outlandish comment is right, but wasn't cricket invented by the residents of india?
nope i'm wrong, thinking of something else.
My thanks for the feedback
Henri is correct as "simply isn't cricket" is a well known British phrase. The idea for the 'Tax Man' was for him the be the archetypal idea of an English civil servant (all be it a sixties idea of it) and several Hollywood movies would suggest that English voices make the best villains eh
Also my understanding at least in the UK is that taxes are raised and tax levels are increased, although as pointed out it doesn't really matter.
Despite that fact that the comic has an ongoing storyline and different story arcs, I do try to make each issue accessible for the new reader, however I guess this issue was the exception as it directly followed on from the previous issue. Indeed if there is anyone who has the time or the desire to read the comic, I'd advise starting from issue 18 as that's a good starting point.
I will post my next issue here as it will come with costume codes hidden within it (my thanks to Avatea).
