Street Justice crits %

I have only been running Street Justice for a couple hours, but not noticing a lot of crits. I opened the power and only 5% chance to crit minions listed in first 4 attacks. Is the Street Justice crit chance gimped compared to all other scrapper primaries???

All scrapper attacks that can crit have a 5% crit chance against minions, except the few that have a 15% chance against everything. Street Justice is not alone in this regard. There's currently a display bug in the detailed power info that is not showing the crit chance against non-minions, which is 10%.

Correct. However, it is good to note that the Finisher's Extra damage due to the combo system does NOT crit. It only crits on the base damage. Each of the Finishers even state this.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

I fast leveled this guy from 1-20 last night. I stopped to do bank missions for the accolade, and the coolio temps. This also gave me a chance to do a little testing on him.

Now, I was not too happy with him most of the night. Trying to get that finisher lined up was annoying. Most of the teaming was sewer runs, and by the time the finisher came up I was looking for a target, trying not to waste it. The whole thing threw my rhythm off, and of course my DPS was down, and I knew it. Then I get into a mission where Im trying to find a Tsoo boss in a bldg. One of the rare ones with not a very defined "end room" but a circle of rooms and boss in one of those. Now I am just running to the end of all these trying to get my banks done. Anyways, I know the boss is there, saw his text, cant find him. Ended up dragging the whole floor of Tsoo after me. They corner me and we go at it. Those fools. They closed en masse. Those close AoEs on this set are wicked. Very fun.

After posting this thread (about the same time) I started watching my crits closely. They happen, and they happen on Lts. Havent fought a ton of bosses yet.

After that i relaxed a bit more on the trials, didnt try to get the combo system worked everytime, feathered in sands of mu and the vet ranged if that was called for. Still mostly grinding my StJ attacks when they are up, but a lot looser. Felt better. I realized one of the frustrating things were that things die so fast. (I'm coming of a lot of Brutes) That makes it hard to make the combo. That does not seem that bad a thing lol. Also, doing the level 20 bank mission I was able to fight slightly tougher groups. The set is very nice against small mobs. Init Strike, Hvy Blow, Rib Crack, Spin Stk, Rib crack, Init Strike, Hvy Blow, Sweep Cross. 3 pops Aoe finisher, 3 pops sm Aoe finisher. Feels pretty good right now. I know the AoEs are pretty small, but the graphics do look wicked. Overall I am not unhappy. Still need to run it for a week or two before I fall in or out of love.

I'll probably get him to around 30 tonight. Then I am off for a Halloween madness weekend.

Combo points should increase the % to crit on your finishers. That would be cool as hell.

One thing to keep in mind with sweeping cross is that while it is an AoE attack and can hit multiple targets, its designed like shadow maul and jacobs ladder in that it does the almost as much damage as a single target attack with the same recharge/end cost (SC base damage on a L50 scrapper is 103, only slightly less than shin breakers 112), and that is without any combo points - once you hit combo level 2 or 3 its actually a fairly nice attack even if you only hit a single target.

So while its nice to get multiple targets with SC, and its worth a second or so to position yourself for 2+ targets if you can, its not worth any more time or aggravation than that. Spinning Strike is similar in that it also does nice damage for its activation time, so while its a waste of end to hit only a single target with SS, your DPA is not going to suffer that much if you only hit a single target with it, although SS is really easy use, I find I hit a lot more than I would have expected with it.

Overall I find the AoE in Street Justice to be a lot more effective than most folks would think - the fast activation and higher than usual base damage makes up for the smaller area and/or special mechanics of the attacks.
