Critique - PvE - Crab Spider
What Ill be doing is leaving this for another few days and then changing the title from Critique to "Sharing" as obviously my build is so damn good it walks sideways (like a crab gedit? :P).
I check the Soldiers of Arachnos forum quite frequently, but I never check the Build Workshop. It's just cluttered with too many builds that I have no opinions on. I only noticed this post because your bump came up on the global New Posts list.
So, what is your attack chain? I think you've got too many attacks here, and some of them are just mules for IO sets. I think it's best to spend your IO slots on powers you'll actually use. You've even got a proc in Kick that's completely useless unless you actually close to melee range and kick people, a lot.
After firing off some combination of your FIVE AoE attacks (Arctic Breath, Wide Area Web Grenade, Suppression, Frag Grenade, Venom Grenade) will you really be needing Spirit Shark, Channelgun AND Longfang to pick off the survivors? I would dump some of your least favorite powers and use the enhancement slots to improve the really good powers. I certainly would not 6-slot Channelgun while leaving venom Grenade and Suppression short. Suppression will give you a 6.25% recharge bonus with one more slot of Positron's Blast.
I would take Gaussian's Synchronized Fire Control out of Aim and put it in Tactical Training: Leadership. Slotting Aim for To-Hit has little effect anyway since you already have a 95% chance to hit virtually everything in the game. You want Gaussian's proc in a continuous toggle so it can fire as much as possible, and the To-Hit bonuses from TT: Leadership will benefit the whole team.
Call Reinforcements... I would sell the purples or give them to a character whose pets are really important. Take a couple of slots from one of those unused attacks and 4-slot with Expedient Reinforcements. They will recharge faster just due to enhancements and give you a global 6.25% recharge bonus.
Does your hover Crab intend to keep Hover on all the time? I have a couple of characters that hover for thematic reasons and I always add flight speed IOs so they don't always lag behind the team.

The Gaussian Proc only has a chance to activate when the power its slotted in is activated - it doesnt check for each 'tick' of a toggle (I asked this question before myself ).
I Hover-Crab in combat all the time yes. I find that im never too far behind as most of the time enemies appear around most corners so the team doesnt get a chance to run too far ahead - if there is a bit when there is a long distance to run I turn off Hover and turn on Sprint+Ninja Run (beast run looks weird with the Crab legs imo). Also with Mental Training I may change it to a +Fly Speed IO (shame I cant use IO Sets with that power )
It was either Kick or Boxing and Kick allows me to use the fairly cheap Force Feedback +Rech proc. I may never really use it but tbh I couldnt think of anything else to put in that single slot. I dont think it HURTS the build to have it in and the cost is a) negligable and b) I already have it
I took so many attack powers so I can do either lots of AoE damage or lots of ST damage without using lots of End (AoE attack on a single foe).
Supression - wow I made a mistake there. I cant see why I didnt put in the 5th Posi_Blast so I can only assume I muffed it. Fixed
I can see your point about perferred power slotting.
I was chasing Set Bonuses and will take another look at actual ENH bonuses for used powers a bit when I get home (really shouldnt be playing in Mids at work lol). But ill prob do:
- Remove Dev D/E from Channelgun
- Remove 2 from WAWG
- Leave WAWG with 2x Acc/Imm/Rec [Frakenslot]
- Add 1 to Supression (Achiles Heel %ResDebuff)
- Add 2 to Call Reinforcement
- Remove the 2 Purples from Call Reinforcement and add in 4 Expedient Reinforcement
Concerning procs in toggles, my Crab does have Gaussian's slotted in a toggle and it does fire all by itself without restarting the power. I have not done the math, but Paragon Wiki says that a proc in a toggle power checks every 10 seconds to see if it goes off. So, in the case of a 5% proc like Gaussian's, it takes an average of 3 minutes, 20 seconds to fire. That seems about right based on watching my own proc messages scroll by when I'm standing around outside of combat. Getting a 5.25 second buff every 200 seconds doesn't seem all that great, but it's still more frequently than you would get it by hitting Aim as fast as it recharges.

Kick w/ Force Feedback... using that proc only hurts in the sense that it's worth money and you are robbing yourself of those assets. If your character's objective is to avoid melee combat at all times, and you wouldn't reach for Kick in a melee emergency anyway, it's never going to be used. I'd personally rather spend my infamy on something I will use.
I always advise against slotting Suppression with the Achilles' Heel proc. Suppression is for clearing away the riff raff... the minions that don't have enough damage resistance to worry about anyway. If you want Suppression to be the best attack it can be, give it 5 slots of Positron's Blast and a recharge IO. The Achilles' Heel proc is only really useful against the biggest and nastiest targets (Arch Villains, etc.) and only if you can spam it at high speed in hopes of getting that 20%. If you use the proc at all, put it in Channelgun.
Ill probably need to dbl-respec my toon to keep most of her current IO's that I wont be using so between respecs ill slot the Gaussian Proc in Tactics and see for myself.
Its not that I dont believe you its just I raised a Forum Topic on this exact point a while back and was told definately that it doesnt have a chance to apply every 10 secs.
If it doesn then Ill swap the slotting for Aim and TT:L.

You don't want Spirit Shark. It sucks for immobilization and its cast time is long way to long and it's range is to short, by the time you finish casting it the mobs will have already spread out. Also insted of chaseing after +HP set bonuses I whould get more +recharge and make Dull Pain... I mean "Serum" perma. I also see little point in taking the pets if there not going to be perma as well, but that's mostly personal preference.
This is my build the goal was more of less the same as yours but I was going for a bit more survivability.

small clarification: Spirit Shark is the ST KB attack (which I took) - School of Sharks is the Cone Immob attack.
I also saw that the Rule of 5 is broken:
7x 2.5% Recovery
6x 9% Accuracy
After some tweaking im now 7 secs off Perma Serum, have 2 Chance to Holds (REALLY wanted that 3rd but its not THAT important) and %Damage on all 4 AoE attacks (im going to DESTROY those boxes in Mayhem missions).

Yeah I know the Rule of 5 is broken but theres no other set that i need in those powers. those sets are either giving me +regen or +recharge.
I had a look at teh activation/recharge times and you are right with only Channelgun and Longfang I shouldnt need another ST attack.
Ive still kept the Spirit Shark attack so I can get Artic Breath and just added an Acc/Dam IO incase I get -Rech and have a gap.
I moved those slots to:
1x Channelgun (added the Devastation %Hold proc)
1x Frag Grenade (moved the Force Feedback %Rech proc from Kick)
1x Hover (Karma -KB) - this gives me a total of 8 pts of -KB. I was also considering the Kismet +6% Acc but my current Acc and -Def attacks should be fine.

Nothing else is popping out at me. If your happy with it I'd say go for it.
Im expecting to start rolling out the respec after I get 90% of all the IO's needed as Im really wanting to focus on my Crab for Incarnate powers so depending on how busy I am this weekend (real life does exist after all) it should be done soon.
And if its a wreck simply do another respec and post the changes and why

Hi all,
here is my planned respec for my hover Crab.
Goal is to reach softcap for Ranged and AoE (done @ 48.6% and 45.7%) and get close to s/c for Melee (done @ 41.4%).
This toon should only be in melee rang when in tunnels when WAWG misses
Psi Def is at 38.2%.
This is a team AoE and buff toon that can do some light tanking (Ranged Def and 55% S/L Res) and also light debuff (Venom Grendade + Arctic Breath + Suppression).
I was bouncing around with using either a full set of Devastations for the +Reg, +HP, +Dam and +Psi Def in Channelgun but instead when with 4x Thunderstrikes and 2 Devs for the inc Recovery, Acc and Ranged Def and still getting the +Regen along with the %Hold proc.
I currently have 3 of the Dev %Holds and I love seeing that electric cage effect when it goes off which is quite often on my 3 ST attacks.
Cardiac Alpha is used although I also toyed with the idea of Musculature Radial (+EndMod) but the +End wasnt a big enough impact to outweigh the -EndUse for Cardiac.
I took Call Reinforcements for additional damage and agro control (plus I already have those 2 Purples )
