Gamepads that work for CoH

I have an old Game Elements controller that I currently use for CoH. However, it's old and it's starting to not work correctly.

I have Xbox 360 wireless controllers that I used for Champions Online...but they don't work for CoH.

I'm looking to get a new one and I'm wondering which ones work for CoH.

Thanks in advance.

I have a post in the mac boards about one I found to work: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...00&postcount=4

The Logitech Dual Action gamepad that has a mode button and LED in the middle below the "start" and "select" buttons and has a cross on the D-Pad works.

The Logitech F310 did not work for me (I use a Mac, so ymmv).

I'm not even sure how you could play CoH with a game pad. >.> So many things that need clicking....

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

The controller I currently use allows for 15 buttons to click powers.

It works for my SS/WP build.

Any information on whether this one would work?

I'm thinking Menus, Targeting, Checking Salvage and Recipes, slotting, inventing, navigating things....

I target with my controller.

I use my mouse for menus and what not.

It is rough to have to switch back and forth sometimes...but I love being able to just sit back with a controller while running through a mission.

The one big thing for me...is using the right joystick to "look up" "look down" "turn right" "turn left".

The Xbox 360 controller does not allow that.

Both sticks work on the Dual Action.

As for the 710, I never tried that one but I would guess it's got the same guts as the 310. It may have been CoH in general or CoH + Mac client, but either way Amazon didn't give me any hassle when I returned the 310 stating it didn't work with CoH.

As for playing with a gamepad the only real issue is things that require left clicks as that cannot be assigned to any non-mouse button or done via macro. If you can avoid location targeted powers it just takes getting the hang of manipulating the camera to speed up tab targeting. Goto_tray # macros let you get to all of your powers.
