Here is what ANN's CEO had to say about it.

Honestly, I don't know about this. Granted I don't really watch that much streamed anime and I'm not active on any of the legal streaming services.

On the surface, it seems a good thing for both companies, I'm just not reaslly sure what the eventual fallout is going to be.

I only watch legal streamed, so this is a fairly good deal, but only time will tell as to what the fallout will be.
I know Niconico isn't as region restricted with the ones they stream, where as Crunchyroll has to restrict certain regions as laid out in the agreement for that show. There will most likely be overlapping shows streamed, but if a bidding competition starts for a show or shows, that's where Crunchyroll could start feeling the pinch.
