Alright, as a disclaimer this is not only my first build for a Brute but my first build for DA also so it's perfectly possible that I've done some silly things. I did a bit of light lurking that gave me some ideas but mostly I went in blind.

So... Build goals. I tried to get some nice recovery and +end first and foremost, hit the softcap on s/l defense and pick up good enhancement values for my attack chain. I wanted to keep it relatively affordable, it'll be dinging 50 within the next week so I just wanted to be able to slot it up right away without worrying about purples or PVP's.

Another thing, I want a good ST attack chain along with nice AOE. I'm happy with the enhancement values, I should have enough recharge to go Strike>Follow Up>Strike>Slash. Swipe is there as a set bonus mule and because I'll probably need it when exemping since the build doesn't use purples to bring the recharge down with me.

I Plan on going Spiritual Core Paragon for Alpha- Turn accolades and incarnates on to see the final number goal.

Edit: Would like to get some opinions on this- Would it make more sense to go Spiritual/Ageless or Cardiac/Barrier, do you think?

Hmm, good call. I managed to pretty much keep the softcap to s/l while picking up 32.7 e/n defense without too many changes- Lost a bit of recharge but that's pretty much it, so one small purple will softcap me to e/n

Hm, that looks cool but just some questions. Especially being a Scrapper are you able to get good DPS without ED capping the damage in your ST chain? Also, is Shockwave really needed with Spin and Eviscerate both recharging every 4 seconds? It seems the mitigation from the KB shouldn't be needed with your defense+OG, unless it's just there as a set mule?

edit- Also, is Dark Regen worth slotting for damage? I hadn't even considered doing that.

What's affordable for you, two? Got an idea, but want to see what your spending limit is before I put it together.

Two, since /DA has such a great balance as far as defenses and resists, I find that cardiac + barrier to be a great combination. Cardiac actually gives you a very nice resist boost across the board along with the much needed end reduction.

Barrier, even at it's lowest point, will give you a nice overall buff, which I feel you get much more out of because of the balance in the DA set.

Recharge shouldn't be an excessive issue for claws/da for a couple of reasons. Claws is already pretty fast. You should be able to achieve a great attack chain without too much recharge. (Depending on your spending limit you may be able to reach that with just slotting recharge bonuses). Plus, dark regernation recharges pretty quickly on it's own. Without spiritual or ageless my DR recharges in around 12 seconds. Frankly, with how well built DA can become I find I really don't use DR that much. It's an invaluable life saver though.

Barrier, even at it's lowest point, will give you a nice overall buff, which I feel you get much more out of because of the balance in the DA set.

Recharge shouldn't be an excessive issue for claws/da for a couple of reasons. Claws is already pretty fast. You should be able to achieve a great attack chain without too much recharge. (Depending on your spending limit you may be able to reach that with just slotting recharge bonuses). Plus, dark regernation recharges pretty quickly on it's own. Without spiritual or ageless my DR recharges in around 12 seconds. Frankly, with how well built DA can become I find I really don't use DR that much. It's an invaluable life saver though.
Meh, honestly I'd prefer for you not to tempt me with something too crazy. Money isn't really a problem for me but I'm already working on a high end build for another character so I'd prefer to not have to invest in two at once, I like to keep my reserves in tact.

The damage from it isn't the reason Eradication is in it. Even when hitting eth ED cap for damage, DR's damage is pathetic.

It's slotted like that for the E/N defense bonus and Max End bonus in Eradication. You're going to be in the middle of a crowd most of the time when you fire DR, so the amount you heal per enemy isn't particularly important, as long as you get decent recharge and end reduction along with the ToE proc, you can slot it with whatever you want and it will remain just as useful. The fact that you can slot it with a set like Eradication for the set bonuses is just icing on the cake.

I guess I can see that- Just seemed to me that it would be worthwhile to try and get the most heal enhancement out of it as it doesn't seem like it will be particularly effective against AV's and there are many situations in game where there aren't always adds around.

I took a page out of Werner's book on how to slot dark regeneration and have found it extremely effective.

Damage is not a concern at all simply, because you really shouldn't need to (or really be doing it) using it all the time for the damage to matter. So, healing, endurance consumption, and recharge become the primary focus. Accuracy as well as if the heal misses it does less or nothing for you.

The slotting from Werner's book goes:

Gogli Exposure HO (Heal/End)
Armageddon: Acc/Rech
Theft of Essence: Chance for +endurance
Numina's Convalesence: End/Rech
Numina's Convalesence: Heal/Rech
Numina's Convalesence: Heal/End/Rech

This gives you enough end redux and healing that you're only 1.6% away from the ED and caps you on the recharge avaiable from enhancements in the power. Plus you get a regen and HP bonus from the three NC's in the power. The accuracy from the armageddon helps provide some bonus to hit, but as claws you should have follow up in effect most of the time which will add to the accuracy as well.

With this set up you typically have 100% heal off just a couple of mobs and a more than adequate heal from a single mob. I have tactics in my build for increases accuracy as well. But am not claws primary so no follow up bonuses.

Second build I posted is what I'm going with- Made some slight adjustments that aren't really worth posting. The character is still a few levels from 50 so I'll probably end up doing a little more tweaking here and there as I catch things in game once I start slotting it up.

Just wanted to add- Dark Regen deals a fair bit of dmg with reactive. I giggle every time I set a bunch of baddies on fire by healing. Caps targets at only 10, but a 20 ft radius makes up for that a bit. Between dark regen and the dmg aura, lotsa fire

Funny, I was thinking of making a weapons-based DA brute, and what do I see?

Kind of a general question I suppose, but while this build is great and fancy at 50, I'm sure, how do you pick powers and slot along the way to make leveling as painless as possible?

Honestly I was suffering with my endurance. I wasn't able to run more than say 2 toggles at a time until SO level. Dark Armor is the biggest endurance hog I've ever played, I didn't start thinking there was any hope for it at all until the mid 30's... The only reason I made it to that point at all is because Spin is such an awesome power, but I'm glad I stuck it out.

Miracle and Numina uniques asap, same for Theft of Essence proc. Slot attacks with end redux.
