So how do we test, without TEST?

Um! No. Test server is still there for me.
Test is not there for the convenience of players. It's open (when it is) at the developers discretion and for their purposes. If they need it to be down for some reason, it will be.
While true that it's there for Dev use at their discretion, it has been unavailable for a long time without any reason given. It's also called The Training Room for a reason in that, when it is available, it can be used to try stuff out, and the Devs are usually accommodating of cross-server PvP on Test.
It would be nice to know its status.

One possibility is that they stole its hardware to beef up the live servers and now have to reconstitute it. (Or, alternatively, are waiting for the post I21 rush to die down so they can move the hardware back.)
I'm confused by this thread. The training room was up, or was 2 days ago when I logged on to find the characters had been replaced by a copy of Freedom.

Whenever I've tried to get on Test, I couldn't. Except of course, right now. I got on, but there was no connection to account info. No Tokens at all, not even the first freebie. And the Store was disconnected.

They will be doing their customer service dept a considerable convenience by making sure its available. That is unless they really want to get calls from customers that bought things that didn't work as expected.

You're not paying for access to the Test Server, just the Live ones.

I suppose you could argue that when you buy a car you aren't paying for the showroom or the test drive. I wonder how many dealerships don't offer either.

While that's nice... I can also see Paragon's side that if Test had everything available to it free with no locks... then people could just play on the Test Sever for free and play with everything.

I can see the argument about not buying the cow if the milk is free. History of the test server does discount this. Prior to I21 you could get dupe all the IOs you want for a build to test and play everything absolute top end. There didn't seem to be much of that going on. People would build there test and go back to the regular servers.
Edit: the Rocket Board was positively informative compared to some of the other items

You really think they should make an effort to keep a temporary, "We can take it down at any time" server when they're having enough problems keeping the live servers running right now?
All these things were in Beta, where everyone had access at one point or another. If they didn't take advantage of that opportunity, they could at least read all the forum threads written by the people that did. They aren't going into a potential purchase totally blind unless they choose to.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
I got onto test the other day when I read something about it being a REALLY OLD copy of another server and in fact did see a really old copy of a name-reserving (I did that for my main when I started playing) toon still at lvl 1. :-p
Either way the Beta server(s) should be accessible too. Unfortunately the copy tool's been down forEVER so you'll be starting from scratch.

I'm sure as heck not buying any of them without trying them out. And I'm not trying them out on live to run the risk of wasting them.
And I'm seeing little to no discussion about them on the boards. I tried starting one but there wasn't much that came from it.
For years and years the devs encouraged us to copy our characters over to test to try out respecs before using them up on live. It was good advice. But now with these new things that we pay real money for, and their use cannot be un-done with a respec, access to test is unavailable.

Any ETA on the copy tool? I want to check out a change for one of my 50s and I'd rather do it on Beta/test and not screw up my live build. I'd also like to check out the IO enhancers on a character I'm very familiar with to see if they're worth buying. It was on my to-do list during beta, but I never got around to actually trying those.
NOTE: I'd much rather problems on LIVE get fixed first, of course, I just don't want you to forget the copy tool in the mayhem of feeding the hamsters.
Edit: Well, should of posted this in the "Copy tool down?" thread but read this one first - oops.

I want to test out the new stuff that the devs want me to buy on the market. See if the IO enhancers are worth while, and under what circumstances. See if I really want to take afterburner, things like that.
Without the test server, I cannot actually test these things. I need to copy over my main toon, but this is not possible at the moment. And the test server is gone. It's just the "beta" server.
I have like 31 IO enhancers on my global account. But I'm not gonna test this expensive stuff on live. With no ability to test them, I'm not using any. If I'm not using any, I'm not buying any.
