Linux Success : My rig.
This looks interesting...*deer in headlights stare*
DAMN, now I wanna do that too...
Pinguy Linux, eh? I'll have to check that out.
Good job. You're eating my bed time and probably more of my time later. I've tried a few Linux distros over the years, just to see if there's anything that I consider a decent replacement to Windows, and they were always a little too much hassle for me. Now I have another one to check.
Thanks all. A note - the fuzziness in the pics is my fault, I had one of the settings - "render percentage" i think it's called - set lower than the resolution. i set it to 100% after i took the screenshots (and posted by then) and all was sharp and clear with AA goodness. Alt-enter will fullscreen and again to windowed mode.
Also this was a fresh install - no tweaking to the OS.

Would like to share that I also had a successful install using this "template" in Ubuntu 11.10.
System Specs:
Intel Core2Quad Q6600
8GB DDR2 RAM (can't remember the specific speed)
eVGA nVidia 250GTS
My system was very similar, so perhaps Intel/nVidia systems lend themselves to CoH on Linux? Just confirming that it does indeed work under Ubuntu 11.10 using the Wine version in the repositories. Only modifications to the OS was swapping from Unity to Gnome 3. Have not tested in Unity yet, but may do that later this evening.
All files are in the same directory. I'm running it all out of a folder on my desktop. Links don't seem to work if created, the perl script attempts to install it where the link was clicked.

#!/bin/bash ./cohlaunch.pl -renderthread 0
#!/bin/bash cd <path/to/CoH> ./cohlaunch.pl -renderthread 0
Fantastic! It's good to hear another success story. Anyone else?

I have seen many posts regarding linux and trying to get CoX to run. I have succeeded, and here is my setup.
1: System: Core i5 2500k. 8 gig ddr3 1866, 1 WD tera drive, EVGA 260 gtx Twin FrozrOC
2: Pinguy Linux 11.04, Kernel Linux 2.6.38-9-generic, gnome 2.32.1. Installed on 200 gig partition on the tera drive. full updates.
3. Wine 1.3.29. Windows version 7. vertex shader support hardware. Allow pixel shader checked.
4. This PERL script http://www.carnildo.com/cohlaunch/index.html
5. a Shellscipt that only contains| ./cohlaunch.pl -renderthread 0
I chose Pinguy, since it had a nice version of WINE installed. it also has PlayOnLinux. I can't say which one helped, but at least the WINE works.

The first time I ran the shellscript, I had to "run in terminal" and i could watch the action as it dl'ed the files and patched. After that, it launches right to game. I still run it in terminal mode, so I can see what it's doing. Verified on the new Freedom engine. No costume bug.
